About This Role
Provides technical support and assists engineering consultants with inspections, analysis and testing with projects involving fire investigation, fire protection, and life safety assessments. Assist in fire scene documentation, component inspection, and testing and research for determining causation. Utilizes the scientific principles, engineering methods and techniques to a variety of projects.
Mandatory research project must be completed by the end of the Internship and is expected to require approximately 40 hours of effort. Research topic will be mutually agreed upon between intern and supervisor.
Required Work Hours
Internships with ESi are expected to be fulltime, 40-hours per week, from Monday to Friday (Business hours are from 8am-5pm).
If you are participating in our co-op program - we require that you are taking no more than 2 classes during your employment with ESi and are able to work a minimum of 32 hours per week.
Required Skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Verbal and Written Communication.
Intermediate skills with CAD and office productivity software. Strong Mechanical Aptitude.

Internship Dates
Spring Season - March 2 - May 5, 2026
Summer Season - May 11 - September 8, 2026
Dates are subject to change. End dates can be accommodated for summer season pending return to school.
The AJGA will compensate interns $9 hourly plus time and one-half for overtime worked.
Interns on average will work 40 - 55 hours per week (spring) and 50 - 65 hours per week (summer)
The internship is 100% travel. You will travel week in, week out to different cities & states. The AJGA organizes all lodging in a combination of hotels, rental properties, and local-family homes.
The AJGA will compensate most tournament-related expenses (all lodging, gas, laundry, and some food).
Travel to Atlanta for the start of the internship will be paid in full by the AJGA but travel home at the end of the internship is on the intern.
Each intern will be provided with clothing and shoes.
In limited instances a week off could happen for a team. In this case all travel, food and lodging will be on each individual if they determine to go home or stay in the city in which they are located. In this case, time off is unpaid.

Responsibilities:
Analyze large datasets of purchase transactions to identify overpaid sales tax.
Reconcile tax amounts using tax rates, exemptions, and jurisdictional rules.
Work closely with tax consultants to prepare refund claims and supporting documentation.
Utilize SQL, Excel, and other data analysis tools to extract and manipulate data.
Identify trends and patterns in sales tax overpayments.
Assist in automating processes to improve data extraction and analysis efficiency.
Communicate findings and recommendations to internal teams and clients.
Qualifications:
Availability: This is an in-office, onsite 5x per week position.
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field.
1-3 years of experience in data analysis, tax compliance, or financial analytics.
Proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros) and data visualization tools (Tableau).
Experience with SQL, Python, or other data query languages is a plus.
Knowledge of sales tax regulations and exemptions is preferred but not required.

Support all phases of data collection and assessment for reporting and delivery.
Lead assigned data-related initiatives, including requirements gathering meetings and analysis of business needs.
Write advanced queries (pulling from multiple tables, calculations, using subqueries, different systems, etc.) using SQL, Power BI, MS Excel, Python, or other tools.
Establish relationships and partner with other teams to deliver client and business value.

Required Skills:
3-5 years of experience in any combination of analytics-focused role with experience in building and managing analytics
Bachelor's degree in business or experience in related analytical/technical field
Background in data analysis, statistics or related field
3 years of experience developing dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI
Experience creating views and other advanced SQL techniques
Expertise in quantitative data analysis methods and data mining
Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate trends and analysis into actionable recommendations
Knowledge of predictive modeling techniques a plus (R and/or Python)
Strong executive presence and collaborative/interpersonal skills
Experience in the Life Insurance space is a plus
