The Opportunity
As a Data Scientist II for Fraud, you will be responsible the development of machine learning models that improve USAA's ability to detect and prevent fraud on credit card, debit card, check, deposit, digital payments, as well as in other areas such as claims and disputes. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Data Strategy Intern, you will work alongside multiple data strategy team members on various projects, contributing to a range of ongoing initiatives. During this internship, you will have the opportunity to assist select team members and contribute to one or more of the following key initiatives:
SaaS Product Development: Assist in the development of a new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product designed to streamline Physician and APP workforce management processes.
Data Insights: Apply data science techniques to glean knowledge and equip our Physician and APP workforce consultants with actionable insights, empowering data-driven decision-making.
Data Visualization: Create insightful visualizations to aid in enhanced understanding and increased transparency of data and knowledge.
Product Alignment: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align workstreams and product development efforts, ensuring our solutions effectively meet the evolving needs of our target consumer base.
Data Preparation: Collect, prepare, and preprocess large datasets from various sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and readiness for analysis and visualization.
Stakeholder Communication: Develop compelling visualizations and presentations to effectively communicate complex findings and recommendations to stakeholders across the organization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Pursuing an undergraduate degree with the expectation to graduate from a school of computer or information science with a focus in one or more areas: data science, data visualization, and/or product development.
Minimum GPA of 3.25.
Experience with data analysis and/or visualization tools such as Power BI, Python, R, Tableau and Figma.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to gather, analyze, and organize data systematically.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities
Handle pulling, cleaning, and organizing data from ad platforms like Meta, Google, X and more, along with Google Analytics 4, Salesforce, and Google Big Query
Maintain business intelligence infrastructure across tools like Datorama, Claude, Looker Studio and Google Sheets
Complete data audits and analysis to ensure product quality and troubleshoot issues as they arise
Assist with data measurement setup like Google Tag Manager, site tracking, client onboarding, and overall performance reviews
Qualifications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
