The opportunity We're seeking a highly skilled and proactive Staff Data Scientist to join our Experimentation Platform team. In this role, you will focus on building robust frameworks and tools that empower teams across the company to conduct experiments at scale. Your work will enable experimenters to design, execute, and interpret experiments using cutting-edge methodologies, while also improving the overall efficiency and accuracy of experimentation processes. In addition to guiding experimental design and analysis, you will define and implement methods for analyzing data, codified into scalable tools for widespread use.
This position is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of experimentation, statistical methods, and an interest in creating standardized systems and tooling that democratize experimentation across an organization.
What you'll be doing
Enhance analysis methodologies: Explore and implement advanced methodologies - such as using covariates to augment analysis or improving statistical rigor - to ensure robust and reliable experimental results.
Tool building and automation: Create intuitive tooling that allows teams to monitor, interpret, and understand the impact of their experiments without requiring deep statistical expertise.
Design and analyze experiments: Partner with stakeholders to model and analyze key experiments, ensuring proper design (e.g., randomization, sample sizing) while providing insights into their results.
Define best practices: Establish gold-standard approaches for experimental design, measurement, and analysis, including tradeoffs between statistical techniques such as frequentist, Bayesian, and causal inference.
R&D for innovation: Research and implement cutting-edge techniques, such as uplift modeling, causal inference, and advanced A/B testing frameworks, into tools for broader use across the company.
Collaborate with product and engineering teams: Work closely with engineers to integrate experimentation tooling into the company's platforms and systems, enabling seamless adoption and execution.
Democratize experimentation: Set up educational resources, documentation, and dashboards that empower experimenters to confidently design, run, and understand their experiments using the platform.
What we're looking for
Background in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, DataScience, or a closely related field.
Strong expertise in designing, executing, and analyzing A/B tests, multivariate tests, and other experimental methodologies.
Deep understanding of statistical methods for experimentation, including frequentist (e.g., t-tests, ANOVA), sequential testing and resampling methods.
Proficiency in programming languages for datascience (e.g., Python, R), including building data tools and libraries for experimentation workflows.
Expertise in leveraging data analysis tools, such as SQL (or similar technologies) to investigate and identify root causes for unsuccessful experiments, ensuring insights are actionable and experimentation methodologies are continuously improved.
Familiarity with the use of covariates, regression-based approaches, and causal inference techniques in experimental analysis.
Demonstrated ability to partner with engineering teams to integrate datascience workflows into scalable platforms.
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) for managing data pipelines and tools.
You might also have
Prior experience building or contributing to an experimentation platform or framework, especially within an organizational context.
Expertise in building APIs, libraries, or interfaces to enable self-service experimentation.
Prior exposure to ad tech platforms, including knowledge of campaign optimization, audience targeting, and attribution modeling.
Knowledge of big data tools and technologies (e.g., Spark, Flink, BigQuery) for large-scale data analysis.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills - able to convey statistical and technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
