Job Description
What You'll be Owning:
We are seeking a DataScientist to support our NLP project focused on accurate and automatic tokenization of language data from spoken or written sources. In this role, you will develop automated solutions for annotating language data with parts of speech information and enhance existing models by evaluating their performance against human-generated annotations for both speech and text. Your contributions will be crucial in advancing our NLP capabilities and ensuring high-quality language processing.
What You Must Have:

Make and communicate principled conclusions from data using elements of mathematics, statistics, computer science, and application specific knowledge. Through analytic modeling, statistical analysis, programming, and/or another appropriate scientific method, develop and implement qualitative and quantitative methods for characterizing, exploring, and assessing large datasets in various states of organization, cleanliness, and structure that account for the unique features and limitations inherent in Government data holdings. Translate practical mission needs and analytic questions related to large datasets into technical requirements and, conversely, assist others with drawing appropriate conclusions from the analysis of such data. Effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences. Make informed recommendations regarding competing technical solutions by maintaining awareness of the constantly shifting Government collection, processing, storage and analytic capabilities and limitations.
Bachelor's degree with 10 years of relevant experience

Bachelor's degree must be in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine learning, Data Science, Operations Research, or Computer Science or a degree in a related field (Computer Information Systems, Engineering), a degree in the physical/hard sciences (e.g. physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy), or other science disciplines with a substantial computational component (i.e. behavioral, social, or life) may be considered if it included a concentration of coursework (5 or more courses) in advanced Mathematics (typically 300 level or higher, such as linear algebra, probability and statistics, machine learning) and/or computer science (e.g. algorithms, programming, data structures, data mining, artificial intelligence). College-level requirement, or upper-level math courses designated as elementary or basic do not count. Note: A broader range of degrees will be considered if accompanied by a Certificate in Data Science from an accredited college/university.
Relevant experience must be in designing/implementing machine learning, data science, advanced analytical algorithms, programming (skill in at least one high-level language (e.g. Python)), statistical analysis (e.g. variability, sampling error, inference, hypothesis testing, EDA, application of linear models), data management (e.g. data cleaning and transformation), data mining, data modeling and assessment, artificial intelligence, and/or software engineering. Experience in more than one area is strongly preferred.

The Data-centric Platforms and Architectures Department designs and develops data platforms and solutions that leverage cloud capabilities for a variety of civil and national security space customers. Join us to accomplish innovative work on modern data platforms and data-intensive cloud native applications for the space enterprise.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cloud-Native and Microservices Developer to design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and resilient applications and data platforms for a cloud environment. The ideal candidate will be adept at building modular, independently deployable services using modern cloud technologies and development practices. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions and ensure operational excellence in a fast-paced, agile environment.
* This is a full-time position based in Colorado Springs, CO, which requires 100% onsite work.
What You'll Be Doing
* Lead, coordinate, and collaborate with multi-functional teams to build and deploy prototypes that support the customer's mission using cloud services or on-premise infrastructure.
* Designing data-intensive cloud native applications to some of the most challenging problems currently facing the space enterprise
* Interfacing directly with product owners and customers to iterate on the best solution to solve their most complex problems.
* Guiding customers through assessments of their existing legacy application environments, providing recommendations on a prioritization roadmap for application modernization, and identifying applications for migration to the cloud.
* Working closely with National Security Space, United States Space Force, and other Department of Defense customers.
* Stay up-to-date with emerging cloud technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements: Engineering Specialist - Software Architecture Engineering and Cloud Computing Architecture
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or other related STEM concentrations.
* 8+ years of professional experience in software development, cloud native development, software and data architecture development, or similar technical specializations.
* Experience in designing, developing, and implementing data-intensive cloud-native applications with a microservices architecture.
* Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specification and design documents.
* Build and maintain scalable and resilient microservices using programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go.
* Knowledge of containerization technologies (eg Docker) and orchestration platforms (eg Kubernetes), with hands on experience collaborating with cloud platform and Dev Ops engineers to streamline deployment and monitoring practices.
* Background in troubleshooting, debugging, and upgrading existing software to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
* Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site if required.
* This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance which is issued by the US Government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
* Advanced degree in Computer Science or other applicable STEM concentration.
* Knowledge of semantic data management or graph databases (ex. Neo4J, AWS Neptune).
* Experience with creating and maintaining organizational data management policies.
* Develop robust and efficient RESTful APIs for inter-service communication.
* Active Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
* An in-depth understanding in at least one of the following technical subject areas:
* Working with databases (SQL, NoSQL) and ETL processes.
* Data integration tools, platforms, and pipelines such as Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, Denodo, or Palantir's Warp Core.
* Familiarity with monitoring, tracing, and service mesh technologies.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
