Data Management: Reviews data sources and preps needed data.
Identifies existing and new data sources.
Performs data prototyping, if necessary, to agree what data can/not be used.

Analytics and Technical Acumen:
Performs required analysis, applies accepted statistical methodologies where applicable, and documents the process that was followed, and data sources/tools used.
Determines what kind of analytics will be performed (descriptive, predictive, prescriptive) and defines/documents overall framework.
Understands various internal and external data sources available; uses expertise to utilize the most appropriate data source.
Utilizes appropriate tools to load, integrate, and analyze data.
Conducts analysis and documents findings, identifies unexpected anomalies and root cause (if possible) and determines if analysis can continue, identifies alternatives if anomalies cannot be resolved.
Ensures reproducibility of outcomes.
Documents entire analysis process, including business problem, data sources, methods and tools used, project reference, and outcomes.
Implements pre-emptive actions, where possible.
Analytics/Reporting Tool Development & Training:
Participates in the development and delivery of analytics/reporting tools for internal and external customers.
Types of projects include the development and or maintenance of self-service reporting tools and regular or ad hoc reporting.
Applies a whole company perspective, draws upon previous knowledge and experience, and -- where necessary -- research new/other approaches to identify and agree upon objectives, approach, and success measures.
Defines delivery milestones and negotiates timeframes, monitors progress and periodically notifies customer of status.
Provides training to customers on new tools/reporting capabilities
Effective Communication:
Prepare/present findings that are informative and audience appropriate.
Reviews findings and outcomes with customer, ensures business problem/objectives have been met, and prepares documentation of the analysis.
Where necessary, manage divergent views in the audience and advises the internal/external customer on any recommendations or options that will facilitate data and analysis driven decision making.
Prepares a presentation of the analysis, process followed and reviews it with the customer to ensure the results are audience appropriate.

As a principal technical specialist or team leader for major projects and/or program areas, resolves unique technical problems without managerial intervention, providing coordination and suggesting solutions. Recognized for a high level of technical expertise on legacy and newly developed systems within a large facility or multiple facilities over a large geographical area.
Plans, coordinates, and performs work with a high degree of independence, keeping the supervisor advised of only the most critical issues. Carries out work in accordance with overall plans and objectives of the organization, resolving problems as they arise and making adjustments as necessary to deal with unanticipated situations and organizational needs. This work includes responsibility for evaluating diagnostic data from multiple systems that are integrated to support a network of services or service products. Evaluation of this data is used for correcting deficiencies on Contractor Acceptance Inspection/Joint Acceptance Inspection, and timely resolution of equipment, systems or services with the NAS.
Monitors other employees time as a project or team leader. Identifies requirements (staffing funds, materials, and equipment) to accomplish projects and tracks the use of project resources. Provides training, mentoring, guidance and advice to FAA employees, contractors and other organizations as needed. Supervisor rarely reviews completed work.
Acts in a security and administration role for automation system. Conducts day to day monitoring and management of system and user activity that affect information security, performs the day to day hands on operational and security duties, performs security administration performance checks, reviews/manages user accounts, files, and directories, reviews and analyze audit logs, installs and reconfigures approved software and adaptations, performs user account management, and follows all agency policy and guidance on the automation systems.
Review and evaluate all automation tickets. Works with air traffic and other stakeholders to eliminate erroneous tickets before forwarding to Field Automation Support Team. Contacts are both internal and external. Often represents the organization as the primary technical point of contact on projects, programs, and other work activities to coordinate and implement plans or to obtain information and resolve problems. Meets and consults with representatives of external organizations such as DoD, airport management, contractors, utility companies and foreign governments to resolve problems of mutual concern and to elicit cooperation and action favorable to FAA needs.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience at the level of difficulty and responsibility that demonstrates an extensive knowledge of and experience in technology system interrelationships, and management of civilian or military automated aviation, navigation and electronics systems. Generally, experience at the next lower level, pay band FV-H/level III or FG/GS-12 equivalent, meets the minimum qualifications for this position as long as the experience supports the demonstrated abilities.
Eligible applicants meeting the minimum qualification requirements and selective factor(s), if applicable, may be further evaluated on these factors and the Demonstrated Abilities listed in the announcement. Based on this evaluation, applicants will be placed in one of the following categories: score order, category grouping, or alphabetical and referred to the selecting official for consideration.

Job Description: The Storage and Data Protection Analyst will have demonstrated experience in testing/developing virtualization in large, multi-national deployments to include the storage, network, server (applications and database) aspects and the software required to centrally manage this architecture.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain a virtualized Multi-Tenant Data Center and various secure hybrid Cloud Computing solutions, virtualized storage, networks, and desktops in the Pacific Theater or other theater-wide DoD deployments to include server-accelerating RAM-based VDI data storage, with server RAM as the primary storage tier and virtualized server acceleration. Develop operational checklists as required.
Manage virtual capabilities, to include the storage, network, server (applications and databases) aspects and the software required to centrally manage this architecture. Software may include VMWare vSphere, Citrix Xen, and Microsoft Hyper-V platforms and extends to desktop management and deployment of the VDI otherwise referred to Thin, Zero, Multi-Level, or Trusted Thin Clients.
Manage networks, servers, and storage on SIPRNet to include configuration of said equipment to Air Force specifications. Experience should include leading a team in the seamless connection to a Virtual Desktop Environment.

Job Description: The Storage and Data Protection Analyst will have demonstrated experience in testing/developing virtualization in large, multi-national deployments to include the storage, network, server (applications and database) aspects and the software required to centrally manage this architecture.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain a virtualized Multi-Tenant Data Center and various secure hybrid Cloud Computing solutions, virtualized storage, networks, and desktops in the Pacific Theater or other theater-wide DoD deployments to include server-accelerating RAM-based VDI data storage, with server RAM as the primary storage tier and virtualized server acceleration. Develop operational checklists as required.
Manage virtual capabilities, to include the storage, network, server (applications and databases) aspects and the software required to centrally manage this architecture. Software may include VMWare vSphere, Citrix Xen, and Microsoft Hyper-V platforms and extends to desktop management and deployment of the VDI otherwise referred to Thin, Zero, Multi-Level, or Trusted Thin Clients.
Manage networks, servers, and storage on SIPRNet to include configuration of said equipment to Air Force specifications. Experience should include leading a team in the seamless connection to a Virtual Desktop Environment.
Build test and training plans for Airmen to manage, the complex backend virtual environment to include Cisco's Unified Computing Systems (UCS), EMC VNX storage area network, VMware vCenter, and VMware Horizon View
Manage storage area networks (SAN) to include EMC or other brands, with the broad under-standing of other SAN leaders to include NetApp. Should possess the broad understanding of Hyper-Converged solutions such as Nutanix and EVO. Determines what kind of analytics will be performed (descriptive, predictive, prescriptive) and defines/documents overall framework.
Understands various internal and external data sources available; uses expertise to utilize the most appropriate data source.
Utilizes appropriate tools to load, integrate, and analyze data.
Conducts analysis and documents findings, identifies unexpected anomalies and root cause (if possible) and determines if analysis can continue, identifies alternatives if anomalies cannot be resolved.
Ensures reproducibility of outcomes.
Documents entire analysis process, including business problem, data sources, methods and tools used, project reference, and outcomes.
Implements pre-emptive actions, where possible.
Gains the needed skills/knowledge when new technologies arrive and provides translation between old and new.
Analytics/Reporting Tool Development & Training:
Lead in the development and delivery of analytics/reporting tools for internal and external customers.
Types of projects include the development, maintenance, and enhancements of self-service reporting tools and regular or ad hoc reporting.
Applies a whole company perspective, draws upon previous knowledge and experience, and -- where necessary -- research new/other approaches to identify and agree upon objectives, approach, and success measures.
Gathers customers requirements and translates them into actionable analytics and reporting tools.
Defines delivery milestones and negotiates timeframes, monitors progress and periodically notifies customer of status.
Provides training to customers on new tools/reporting capabilities
Effective Communication:
Prepare/present findings that are informative and audience appropriate.
Reviews findings and outcomes with customer, ensures business problem/objectives have been met, and prepares documentation of the analysis.
Where necessary, manage divergent views in the audience and advises the internal/external customer on any recommendations or options that will facilitate data and analysis driven decision making.
Prepares a presentation of the analysis, process followed and reviews it with the customer to ensure the results are audience appropriate.
Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
