In the role of an Associate Database Administrator you will perform as a member of the Infrastructure Database Support team. This position has the opportunity to work with the latest technology across multiple platforms and systems. Our database environment includes all the latest versions of Microsoft SQL, Azure SQL, Managed Instances, CosmosDB, and others. These db instances are hosted in the public cloud and private cloud supporting very high transaction mission critical applications 24x7x365.
You will collaborate with the Enterprise Architects, Database Engineers, Development DBAs, and IT Operations Teams on complex database projects and performance tuning efforts.
Ideally your background is with building and maintaining large scale, highly transactional database environments, but most important is a willingness to learn new technologies and apply critical thinking to solve problems. In addition, writing and tuning SQL queries and procedures, collecting metrics to analyze query performance and creating reports to share with development teams, as well as migrating or consolidating data center will all be a plus.
In this very large, dynamic enterprise environment you will build, maintain, and administer SQL server for the following: WOW!
- Maintain the disaster recovery plan which is consistent with the defined recovery time objective, and recovery point objective, for each application
- Create the database maintenance plan which ensures each database is properly backed up, monitored, and routine health checks performed
- Contribute to the infrastructure design to ensure each database cluster will meet performance, scale, and security expectations
- Contribute to the application design review to ensure new schema, stored procedures, and function changes follow best practice guidelines
- Analyze database load and performance and make recommendations to improve performance, scale, and security
- Collaborate with the architecture community to establish SQL best practices which provide governance to application development teams
- Create break-fix contingency plans for supporting ongoing operations 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.
- Participate in on-call rotation providing 24x7 support of all critical internal and customer facing application
The experience we look forward to you having:
- Basic experience configuring and maintaining production mission critical databases, preferably Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Database
- Hands-on experience with MSSQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups and using some type of infrastructure monitoring tool is preferred
- Administering very large and high-volume transactional databases in a 24/7 environment
- Setting up and administering database environments; including development, testing, disaster recovery and production
- Familiarity with data manipulation languages and the principles of database design
- A bachelor's degree preferred
- 1 - 3 years relevant industry experience as a Microsoft SQL Database Administrator or Database Developer

Position Details
POSITION SUMMARY
Job location is Randolph AFB, Texas. Responsible for the reconciliation data error conditions identified during the data reconciliation process during the collection and input of information into the Automated Records Management System (ARMS).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts a computer records review of error conditions that need to be reconciled prior to information being cataloged into the ARMS system.
- Takes appropriate action to correct error conditions in order for data to be properly accepted by the system.
- Provides customer service to answer questions in their area of responsibility.
- Answer phones and respond to questions or direct to proper Office of Primary Responsibility (OPR).
- Contact appropriate OPR when records are incomplete or erroneous to correct any error conditions.
- Works with OPR's to reconcile or correct error conditions.
- Works with Lead Worker to reconcile error conditions to be corrected.
- Serves as the Division "Trusted Agent" for access to the ARMS system and takes corrective action as necessary.
REQUIREMENTS
- Work a flexible schedule to handle fast-paced environment and remain flexible.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrate necessary computer skills.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
