What You'll Do:
Own the architecture, performance, and scalability of Flash's production MSSQL systems.
Lead performance analysis and tuning initiatives, metrics to proactively identify systemic issues and design permanent fixes.
Partner with software engineers to review schema designs, query structures, and ORM usage for optimal efficiency.
Drive replication, high availability, and disaster recovery (HA/DR) strategies across multiple environments and regions.
Define and enforce database standards, SLAs, and best practices for schema evolution, query design, and deployments.
Collaborate with engineering leadership to align the database roadmap with product growth and data volume forecasts.
Lead database-related incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortem improvements across engineering and operations.
Identify opportunities to automate administrative tasks and modernize our database ecosystem.
Serve as a mentor and subject-matter expert, raising database literacy and performance awareness across engineering teams.
What You Bring:
Technical Skills
Expert-level mastery of MSSQL internals, query optimization, indexing strategies, locking and concurrency models, and advanced performance tuning.
Proven experience architecting and supporting large-scale, high-traffic SQL systems in production.
Advanced experience with real-time replication, failover clustering, and Always On Availability Groups or equivalent HA solutions.
Demonstrated ability to design and execute performance baselines, KPIs, and capacity models for sustained growth.
Strong understanding of data modeling and query optimization trade-offs in microservices and event-driven architectures.

Qualifications:

As a Master Data Management (MDM) Application DBA for the Duplicate Identity Resolution Processing Team (DIRP-II) you will contribute to a fast-paced team responsible for monitoring and maintaining various Oracle production databases at the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring data integrity and availability of the IBM Infosphere Master Data Management (MDM) database, developing reports, ensuring smooth operation of applications that interact with the MDM database, and working with the team to implement new requirements.
