Pros of working at Dave's Supermarkets

The main thing that was a pro for working at Dave's was job security after probation. And depending on the position, the job itself, not taking into account any cons, is very satisfying.

Cons of working at Dave's Supermarkets

Incompetent Management, severe lack of pay across the board, and even when you ask for more and you do fantastically at your job, they seldom acknowledge it with compensation on your paychecks with pay increases.

Only pro in this regard is my health insurance, which doesn't cover much but it's something (and it is not worth what the company claims it is worth).

What do you like best about Dave's Supermarkets's CEO and the leadership team?

Their lower end of their leadership team does the best that they can with the tools provided. If we are referring to the Owner of the company, he is a sweet older man that should be cherished by the public. If we are referring to his family that runs the show now, I have nothing positive to say about them.

How would you improve Dave's Supermarkets's culture?

Appreciate employees better, from the bottom to the top. much better pay for all, better benefits and coverage for all, better interactions and treatment of the lower level employees by management, negotiate a better contract for employees with the Union, and all of this is just the start.

How did you prepare for the Dave's Supermarkets interview?

I prepared for my interviews as I do for all of them, being ready to answer and ask any questions presented or needing to be present, and going into it with the mindset that I would secure the position.

How does your compensation at Dave's Supermarkets compare to the industry average?

It is vastly below average for my position. The company needs to pay their employees better and not blame the Union or other reasons for a lack of wages. And I do not mean strictly merit raises. We wouldn't be nearly as desperate for help as we are if we paid our people more overall because we would retain them better.

What's the diversity at Dave's Supermarkets like?

Representation of such demographics could be better, but it is definitely not as bad as Zippia makes it seem.

What brings you the most joy at Dave's Supermarkets?

The most fulfilling part of the job is my interactions with other employees.

Cons of working at Dave's Supermarkets

Bad management, pay that equals peanuts with what the rest of the company was being paid instead of my department that I used to work in, supervisor position with no power to hire anyone or fire bad employees, being harassed by bad customers and management not putting their foot down and kicking them out of the store for good, being set up by a rotten co-worker who wanted to get back at the company for mistreatment and used me and set me up in a situation that was not my fault and that I had nothing to do with, being harassed my co-workers and then have management siding with them and threatening to fire the harassed employee/employees for standing up for themselves and fighting back against bad business practices towards them or others, not being moved inside after working very hard to move to a different position in the company, supervisors not having your back

Firing bad management or suspending them and getting rid of the gold badge program- it doesn't work and only rewards the bad workers and not the honest ones doing their job

When I used to work here- I made only a tiny percent above minimum wage- everyone made much more than I used to and I really was never compensated for anything.
