This position will involve fieldwork for training purposes during the first 45 days. Upon completion of training, the role will transition to a fully remote position. Job Duties Responsibilities: * Utilize software to analyze field data. * Utilize software for field data analysis. * Maintain records of utility infrastructure. * Identify and mitigate safety risks. * Design aerial and underground utilities, ensuring compliance with standards including: remedy any National Electric Safety Code violations, perform pole loading analysis, incorporate utility specific standards and specifications. * Optimize designs for cost-effectiveness and safety. * Transfer designs across CAD and CU/MU platforms. * Manage permitting processes. * Correct database errors. * Collaborate with project stakeholders for optimal design solutions. * Maintain vehicle and equipment, ensuring operational readiness. * Manage document systems effectively. * Respond to emergencies safely and promptly. * Report to supervisors accurately and promptly. * Participate in training events. * Travel occasionally for on-site duties. * Perform other assigned duties and adhere to company policies. Detailed Description: * Prepare pipeline condition assessments * Provide support for the evaluation of existing service area utility assets, and develop corresponding recommendations for rehabilitation or replacement * Provide support in the design of the rehabilitation or replacement of water and wastewater pumping stations and treatment plant assets * Provide support in the design of neighborhood utility extension and rehabilitation water and wastewater linear infrastructure projects * Coordinate and assist with environmental studies, permitting, alternatives analyses, and other technical deliverables * Successfully manage and deliver projects on time and on budget * Utilize internal project management tools and resources * Perform technical research and be able to communicate and apply this knowledge * Support the project team in planning and/or designing engineering projects and coordinate special planning, economic, and engineering studies * Participate in improving company resources and tools to improve design production and efficiency * Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings * Assist with business development pursuits Desired Skills and Experience: * B.S. degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering with an Environmental focus (or related engineering discipline) and EIT preferred * Professional registered engineer in the State of Virginia or the credentials to obtain registration in a timely manner is also preferred * Project Management Professional (PMP) certification as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI) preferred but not required * The candidate should have the ability to successfully manage clients and projects in a collaborative fashion and interface with Brown and Caldwell's local, regional, and national water / wastewater practitioners * Business development experience (writing winning proposals and successfully pursuing work) is a plus * Ideal experience would include exposure to and/or experience in some or all of the following: piping design, fluid dynamics and pumping systems, and ability to research technologies * Ability to focus on client needs while balancing multiple priorities including but not limited to project design, bidding and construction management services * Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and prepare written reports and documents * Valid drivers license and good driving record required Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. Duties: Participates in the operation and maintenance of a combined heat plant (CHP) station during an assigned shift; cleans, maintains, repairs and operates steam generators and their auxiliary equipment such as oil burners, boiler feed pumps, flow meter, compressors, generators, and other power plant equipment; makes rounds of Power Plant during his/her watch and observes operation of all equipment; supervises 3rd Class Engineer and Steam Fireman assigned to his/her watch, instructs plant personnel in Power Plant operating procedures and proper safety procedures to be used when equipment is taken out of service; keeps station diary log on his/her assigned watch recording gauge readings, fuel consumed, power generated, kilowatts purchased, water pumped, maintenance work performed and any other pertinent data; performs all other related duties as requested.
