The CLS Plant Health Care Technician is responsible for fertilization, integrated pest management, and weed and fungi controls for trees, shrubs, and lawns on client properties using various equipment including spray and injection tools, while providing excellent customer service; and safely operating vehicles and equipment. This is a seasonal position, depending on the regional location.
This office is holding walk-in interviews for this role between 10AM-12PM every Wednesday at 3567 Westerville Rd
Experience Required
Job Duties
• Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides to client properties using various equipment.
• Measure, mix, and prepare chemical solutions for trees, shrubs, and lawns.
• Follow work order specifications and maintain proper documentation, including pesticide labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Inspect worksites for underground utilities and installations, and set up traffic control and vehicle safety measures.
• Diagnose plant diseases and determine appropriate treatments.
• Operate and maintain sprayer equipment, including loading materials, filling tanks, and ensuring machinery efficiency.
• Adhere to safety regulations, use safety equipment, and safely handle materials.
• Perform site clean-up and maintenance tasks.
• Communicate with clients about diagnoses and treatments.
• Keep daily application records and time reports.
Qualifications
• Must be at least 18 years of age to work in the field.
• Must be at least 21 years of age to operate equipment as a Department of Transportation (DOT) certified driver for specific vehicles or equipment.
• Valid Driver's License. Class B CDL valuable, but not required.
• Successful completion in the Davey Tree Qualified Plant Health Care Technician training program as a plant heath care technician or the ability to obtain qualification within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to complete required safety courses.
• Applicator licenses acquired as necessary per state requirements.
• Ability to operate mobile power equipment.

This is an entry-level position, and individuals are expected to progressively learn and apply technical information and new skills under general supervision. Work assignments involve applying routine procedures to solve common challenges. This role provides our utility clients with the services and solutions needed to manage their assets efficiently and effectively by performing the duties described. This position is an individual contributor role working in a field environment.
Compensation Data
Starting Rate: $20-$22/hr
Overtime: Time and a half after 40hrs/wk, average work week 45 hours minimum
Hotel: Covered
Housing Stipend: $50/daily if not staying in hotel and traveling out of state
Per Diem: $35/daily if enrolled in lodging & working 6+ hours
Job Duties
● Operate as a lone worker when required, demonstrating independence and self-sufficiency. *
● Operate as one of a pair of technicians when required, demonstrating ability to collaborate work scheduling, hours, and work locations. *
● Fulfill weekly production targets to meet client expectations and timelines. *
● Perform field audits of existing utility infrastructure by visually identifying, inspecting, and recording information. *
● Operate hand-held computers, GPS units, cameras and/or other field technology. *
● Accurately record field observations. *
● Positively and effectively communicate with property owners and agencies to arrange for necessary access and work. *
● Drive, operate, and maintain a company vehicle in a variety of terrains and surfaces (including ATVs). *
● Read and follow maps; navigate (in vehicle and on foot) through a variety of terrains and in all types of weather using a GPS, map, compass, or other methods. *
● Recognize unacceptable safety risk conditions and hazards related to the work environment, federal standards, and client specifications. *
● Review and/or correct data integrity errors within the GIS Database. *
● Comply with all safety regulations and meet safety requirements in order to complete work safely. *
● Perform light maintenance on utility infrastructure, utilizing hand tools.
● Use a fiberglass measuring stick to accurately measure heights on utility poles.
● Collaborate with others (Project Managers, Supervisors, Coordinators, Technicians, and Administrators).
● Ensure the proper care and maintenance of any vehicle and equipment assigned including regular inspections, maintenance checks, and prompt reporting of any issues to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel.
● React safely and appropriately in emergency situations.
● Report and respond timely and accurately to the supervisor. *
● Participate in employee and professional training events as assigned.
● Travel (75%-100%) for on-site job duties. *

**Job Duties**
+ Respond promptly to calls for snow and ice events.
+ Communicate during and before/after shifts.
+ Conduct pre-shift inspections and maintenance on all vehicles and equipment.
+ Clear snow from customer sites from designated areas and pile snow in designated and approved locations only.
+ Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe, responsible and efficient manner.
+ Control ice accumulations at jobsites with the safe and responsible use of de-icing agents (salt, treated salt, liquids or other de-icing chemicals).
+ Hand-shovel, snow blow or hand-treat site areas as required (walkways, doorways, fire equipment, etc).
+ Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.
+ Accurately document site service records for each and every site visit.
+ Submit paperwork and documentation promptly at the end of each shift and document and report any obstacles at site(s).
