Courses taught include: * Electrical Fundamentals * Motors * Controls * Refrigeration Fundamentals (theory) * Refrigeration Tools * Refrigeration System Components * System Design (heat loads) * Gas Heat * Heat Pumps MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Technical Diploma in Air Conditioning Technology/ Refrigeration from a regionally accredited college or university, with appropriate coursework that demonstrates competencies in specific course content. Credentials must satisfy all appropriate accrediting agencies. Must have at least two (2) years of HVACR maintenance related experience. Must have appropriate licensure, certifications, or additional professional credential relevant to competencies in course content. Working hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday This is a highly responsible and professional position serving as a Medical Technologist I - OPS within Laboratory Services. Specific Duties and Responsibilities include: * This position requires lifting, pulling, and squatting. Duties of this position require the incumbent to be knowledgeable of and utilize the principles of Total Quality Management. * Performs venipunctures on residents/employees. Collect blood specimens correctly and accurately per physician's orders using proper phlebotomy techniques following set schedule or special assignment. Printout barcode labels and stick on to blood collection tubes after collecting. * Daily centrifuge and separate specimens of blood, urine, stool and microbiology cultures and arrange them for batch processing in-house or sending out to reference labs. Determines specimen requirements for send outs and prepares specimen for transportation to reference labs. * Performs clinical laboratory testing using established clinical procedures (Florida Clinical laboratory Act 10D-41 and federal regulations under CLIA-88) with the highest professional ethics in one or more areas: Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Serology and Arterial Blood Gasses. All critical results are reported to a physician as soon as possible with documentation. Reports all STAT results to nurse or physician as soon as possible with documentation. * Performs proficiency testing as required with at least 90% accuracy. * Maintains records of expiration dates and checks usefulness of quality control materials and reagents daily and maintains sufficient inventory. * Plots and evaluates control results seeing that they are within established ranges each day of use with documentation of corrective actions. * Shares On-Call assignments with other Medical Technologists determined by the supervisor. Maintains communication with hospital at all times by phone or beeper. Responds to beeper within 5 minutes and reports to duty for call-back within 40 minutes of notification. * Review completed reports from each department's printers; check for completeness and any abnormal results that require notification. * Answers the telephone promptly and courteously and speaks clearly and professionally. Answers telephone promptly when paged within the lab. * Attends and participates in all scheduled meetings and in-services. * Other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for the position: * Knowledge of the principles of biology, chemistry, and physics. * Knowledge of medical technology practices and procedures. * Knowledge of the types of laboratory tests. * Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing procedures. * Knowledge of chemicals and reagents. * Knowledge of the significance of laboratory tests. * Skill in operating laboratory and scientific equipment for conducting tests. * Ability to communicate effectively. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Minimum Qualifications: * Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the specialty area(s) (i.e., microbiology, serology, chemistry, hematology, immunohematology, biophysics, cytotechnology, or histopathological technology) for which the laboratory is registered in accordance with Florida Statute 483.
