We are currently seeking a Senior Billing Specialist in the Finance department, reporting to the Billing Manager and Billing Supervisor.
The role will reside in the Washington, DC office with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for preparing monthly pre-bills, maintaining billing filing system, monitoring the e-billing process, and ensuring that special billing arrangements are carried out. The Senior Billing Specialist is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm's clients, attorneys, advisors and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Prepare monthly prebills for distribution to attorneys, including for more complex/difficult client bills.
Communicate with attorneys and secretaries to address any billing questions or report requests.
Edit, prepare and finalize monthly prebills.
Monitor the e-billing process for those clients that are electronically billed to ensure that invoices are successfully submitted.
Verify daily new business memo and ensure correct input of information and special billing arrangements for assigned clients.
Maintain billing filing system on a monthly basis.
Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
Minimum of two-year degree preferred, with specialization in accounting or finance preferred
3+ years law firm billing experience required
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook

Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package, which may also include a full range of health and other insurance benefits, financial and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility), a discretionary bonus, and various paid time off benefits. Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university

The KM Solutions Specialist reports to the Associate Director of KM Solutions and functions as a paralegal responsible for supporting the work of the Associate Director of Knowledge Management (Investment Funds) and the Senior Director of Knowledge Management in the development and management of data resources for Investment Funds Group (IFG). The KM Solutions Specialist supports KM initiatives and projects for IFG, including tracking and validating the input of regular and consistent data into the IFG's market terms database so that IFG can work more effectively. Additionally, this role supports firmwide KM activities, helping to implement the KM strategy.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
* Manage certain data-related components of the IFG project workflows such as managing the IFG market terms database, developing workflows from Centari to the new Funds database in PowerBI, meta-data collections, name normalization/naming conventions, populating missing data, running test exports, analyzing KM system and content usage reporting data and performing final QC
* Maintain the IFG PowerBI build, including source updates, data refreshes, and workspace republication to ensure the IFG's fund formations are entered into the market terms database on a timely basis, setting a regular cadence for the inclusion of both new and legacy work into the database, performing quality control on both automated and manually extracted data, and reaching out to IFG attorneys for validation, as directed
* Coordinate with Associate Director of Knowledge Management (Investment Funds) to track and respond to requests for IFG resources such as bespoke market terms surveys, requests for updates to IFG fund forms and other IFG KM content
* Curates and tags content for knowledge banks
* Locates and formats documents for legal and KM project specific uploads (e.g. into Sharepoint, Relativity, PowerBI, etc.)
* Creates, develops, and maintains current awareness trackers to help IFG stay abreast of key practice developments, including visualizations and updates
* Drafts knowledge platform updates, KM newsletters, and other communications to highlight new tools and KM products to encourage adoption
* Helps maintain knowledge platform and related material, including "off the shelf" market surveys, service provider lists, McDermott Access tools and IFG publications
* Supports and encourages adoption of the knowledge platforms for IFG by providing training and assistance
* Supports improved efficiency of the practices by optimizing technology, including through artificial intelligence-based solutions, document automation and data analytics
* Assist in the creation and delivery of legal training programs and participates in KM and relevant IFG meetings to share best practices in the KM Department and the practice
* Participates in the development of AI based offerings, including research, project management, and reviewing results from AI models being piloted/tested/used by IFG
* Engages in technology trainings and pilots to ensure the KM Department continues to leverage the best technology for internal use, as well as practice-group specific technology offerings
* Maintain KM YourSource (intranet) and KM-related information on practice group pages by adding new links and updating language as needed (in collaboration with content owners)
* Work closely with other paralegals, attorneys, and legal professionals to ensure KM sharing and collaboration
* Support special projects and perform other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Knowledge Officer, Associate Director of KM Solutions, Associate Director of Knowledge Management (Investment Funds) and Senior Director of Knowledge Management
Job Specifications:

Job Description:
The Accounting & Finance Systems Manager supports and advances the firm's Accounting and Finance systems and related processes through a combination of day-to-day operational support and technology-driven improvement initiatives. This position partners with Accounting, IT, and other firmwide stakeholders to deliver system enhancements, process standardization, automation, and control improvements, with primary responsibility for the firm's Invoice-to-Pay functions and enabling systems. The Accounting & Finance Systems Manager works under minimal supervision, this position relies on significant experience and judgment to plan and accomplish objectives aligned with the department's roadmap.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
* Support and continuously improve the firm's Invoice-to-Pay functions and enabling systems, including accounts payable, general ledger, expense management, and related workflows, through operational support and technology-driven enhancements
* Partner with Accounting and IT stakeholders to define and maintain the Invoice-to-Pay roadmap, including priorities, dependencies, timelines, and measurable outcomes aligned with departmental goals
* Lead discovery and process analysis to identify pain points, reduce manual effort and rework, improve cycle times, and strengthen end-to-end controls across invoice and expense lifecycles
* Translate business needs into clear delivery artifacts, including process maps, requirements and user stories, functional designs, acceptance criteria, test plans and results, and implementation documentation, to support auditability and repeatable execution
* Deliver end-to-end system enhancements and projects, including intake, design, configuration, testing, deployment, and adoption, coordinating with internal partners and vendors as needed
* Manage day-to-day vendor application partnerships for the Invoice-to-Pay portfolio, including relationship management, issue escalation, release awareness, and evaluation of new functionality and product offerings
* Identify, pilot, and implement automation, AI, and emerging technology capabilities, leveraging vendor-delivered functionality where appropriate, to improve efficiency, accuracy, compliance, and user experience
* Ensure system changes align with internal controls, data governance standards, and audit requirements, and assess and manage downstream impacts to the General Ledger, reporting, and related financial processes
* Define, track, and analyze key operational and adoption metrics, including cycle time, exception rates, rework drivers, control exceptions, and system usage, to drive continuous improvement and prioritize work
* Promote standardization and scalable adoption through documentation, training, and self-service resources that reduce support burden and improve consistency
* Collaborate with the broader Accounting and Finance Systems team to align solutions with firm standards and reusable patterns while remaining accountable for Invoice-to-Pay outcomes and delivery
Job Specifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field required; Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred
* At least seven (7) years of experience in systems implementation, product ownership, or process improvement roles, preferably supporting Accounting or Finance operations
* Experience with Invoice-to-Pay processes and systems, including invoice workflow, approvals, vendor data, expense processing, and payment readiness; familiarity with integrated enterprise financial systems strongly preferred
* Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical deliverables and lead initiatives from concept through deployment
* Strong knowledge of internal controls, auditability, and operational risk considerations in financial processes
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences and influence cross-functional stakeholders
* Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment, and deliver on commitments

Target Hiring Range $131,000 - $194,000

Overview
Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Legal Technology, the Legal Technology Senior Analyst provides advanced support to the firm's clients and case teams. Their functions include e-discovery consulting, project management and technology training for all stages of the litigation process. This position works independently on medium to large sized/complex matters, and delegates tasks to the junior members of the team. The Legal Technology Senior Analysts will be responsible for implementation of litigation applications and technology based solutions. Availability for overtime and flexibility for travel are required.
Responsibilities
Consult with case teams to assess and support technology needs throughout all stages of litigation process.
Responsible for the advanced technical and project management aspects of discovery, including the stages outlined in the Electronic Discovery Reference Model.
Interact with client's General Counsel and IT department in order to identify potential relevant data sources and execute plan to collect from these sources.
Interact with end users to understand data landscapes and architecture.
Provide case teams with guidance and recommendations regarding the selection of outside vendors. Act as liaison between the case team and vendor throughout the project.
Act as e-discovery project manager. Develop recommendations, plans, cost estimates, budgets, procedures and specifications for case-specific projects. Provide consultation and project management services to case teams regarding database design and e-discovery workflow, including guidance on the use of technology assisted review (“TAR”) and data analytics.
Develop and provide technology related training and document review workflow processes to case teams and the legal technology department.
Provide consultation on trial support services to case teams, on-site and courtroom technology, on-site support and trial presentation services.
Develop and provide one-on-one or case team training for litigation technology applications and courtroom technology as needed. Develop and teach litigation technology classes in the attorney and staff training programs. Prepare training materials and related documentation.
Serve as a mentor to and provide leadership and training for Legal Technology Analysts and Specialists. Work with junior staff members to delegate work assignments.
Comply with department and firm administrative procedures and policies.
Assist with firm and departmental projects as needed and perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Stays current and advises case teams on cutting edge data minimization solutions including the use of TAR technologies and data analytics.
Responsible for working on client, firm and department related projects for 1600 hours per year with a minimum of 1300 hours billed to client-related work.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of litigation support experience.
Requires excellent organization, project management and communication skills.
Must have advanced knowledge of litigation applications and discovery processes and technologies, including e-discovery, advanced understanding of the entire litigation support process and substantial document control and case management experience.
Experience working with vendors on pricing proposals and project management.
Requires experience with data analytics, TAR and experience with litigation support applications such as Relativity, Brainspace, Opus2, Trial Director, ASPs, text editing/conversion tools or other automated discovery tools.
