Responsibilities:
* Create hands-on activities to meet the needs and interests of the children
* Maintain open communication with parents, sharing their child's daily milestones
* Ensure a safe and clean classroom by following essential procedures and guidelines

Qualifications:
Candidates must pass required state and company background checks, and meet state and company minimum education and experience requirements:
* 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED is required
* 1 year of professional experience teaching in child care, daycare, or preschool settings is preferred
* Demonstrated knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice (DAP) for children is required
* Must meet state requirements to be Teacher Qualified in the State of IL:
1) 60 semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester hours or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or development from birth to age 6
OR
2) 1 year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten or licensed day care center AND 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with 6 semester or 9 quarter hours in courses related directly to childcare and/or child development from birth to age 6
OR
3) Completion of credential programs approved by the Department in accordance with Appendix G, otherwise known as CDA.

Physical Requirements:

SUMMARY
The Team Lead DSP position involves lead responsibilities in Community Integrated Living Arranged (CILA) homes. Provide staff training as appropriate and assigned by reporting manager.

Camp Season Schedule
Camp operates June 1 through August 7, Monday-Friday.
There is no camp on July 3, but all staff are required to work a scheduled shift at the community July 3rd Celebration event.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Assist assigned participant(s) in engaging with program activities by modifying rules, activities, or equipment as needed to encourage inclusion.
Ensure the safety and well-being of participants at all times, supporting behavior management as necessary.
Provide personal care assistance (feeding, toileting, lifting, etc.) when required.
Communicate with Group Leaders to prepare for necessary adaptations and foster social interaction among participants and peers.
Report any incidents, accidents, or concerns to the immediate supervisor immediately.
Monitor camper behavior, encouraging positive interactions and promoting teamwork, respect, and inclusion.
Address minor behavioral issues with patience and escalating concerns to the Group Leader as needed.
Administer first aid when necessary and contact emergency medical personnel in critical situations.
Document and report accidents or incidents promptly and accurately in ePACT, communicating with the Group Leader for follow-up.
Supervise campers during all activities, including indoor and outdoor programs, swim days, and field trips.
Maintain constant head counts and safety checks to ensure camper well-being.
Greet parents/guardians warmly during drop-off and pick-up, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
Refer all parent concerns or questions to the Group Leader or Coordinator.
Stay informed about campers' medical or safety needs based on ePACT summaries provided by leadership.
Notify the Coordinator or Program Manager of any concerns or emergencies related to camper health or safety.
Follow directives from the Group Leader and Coordinator regarding activity implementation and safety.
Provide feedback on camper experiences to enhance programming.
Attend staff training sessions and meetings when scheduled.
Communicate with the Coordinator and parents/guardians regarding attendance, safety concerns, and camper behavior.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Applicants must be 16 years of age or older in compliance with Illinois Child Labor Laws and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
One to two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
Ability to maintain high energy and engagement throughout the camp day while working independently and following program guidelines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt to various situations and participant needs.
Must be able to clearly communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff, and to follow and relay instructions or safety protocols.
Commitment to scheduled program times and training sessions.
Physical ability to lift and transfer up to 50 lbs., as needed.
First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire.
Work Environment:
The work environment for Day Camp Inclusion Aide is dynamic, engaging, and physically active, requiring flexibility and adaptability to meet the demands of a camp setting.
Work will take place in a variety of locations and environments, both indoors and outdoors, depending on the scheduled activities. Staff must be able to spend most of their time outdoors during the camp season, tolerating various weather conditions such as heat, humidity, and rain.
On swimming days, staff are required to actively participate in the pool with campers, ensuring safety, supervising activities, and fostering a positive experience. This includes being in the water during designated swim times.
Physical activity is a core aspect of the job. Staff will frequently participate in active games, outdoor exploration, and hands-on crafts while also being responsible for the physical setup and takedown of equipment and supplies. This includes moving tables, chairs, sports equipment, and other materials as needed.
