    TITLE: Child Watch Attendant DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation & Community Services REPORTS TO: Guest Services & Operations Supervisor This is a part time temporary position, and may be required to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Schedule of work hours may vary based on assigned duties. NATURE OF WORK: Under the direction and supervision of the Guest Services & Operations Supervisor this position is responsible for working in the Child Watch area of the Recreation Center, supervising the children that are dropped off their while their parents use the facility. It will be the responsibility of this position to ensure the safety and well-being of the children. The position interacts with citizens, community organizations, and other city staff. This position may also be asked to assist with the front desk attendants, and various programs and events offered by the department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Monitor the drop-off and pick-up of children to guarantee their safety while in our care, and assure parents are signing in and signing out children properly and presenting identification Provide basic child care to children in attendance Plan, organize, and supervise age appropriate on-going activities in the child watch program and interact with children at play, creating a positive experience for the children Help implement a variety of activities which may include: leading active games, arts and crafts, dance, drama, fitness, music, and various recreational, educational, or cultural enrichment events Contact parent or guardian to change soiled diapers, cleaning soiled clothing and accessories, attending to the child's needs, and any other similar needs Maintain a clean and sanitary environment at all times Coordinate any specific needs the child may have with their parent or guardian Attending regularly scheduled staff meetings Other duties as assigned SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Interact with the public in an effective, customer-friendly manner, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and other organizations Work well with children and exercise patience, compassion and understanding with them Understanding and accommodating to the varying needs of each individual child simultaneously Knowledge of infant and child development and basic care Effective communication with children to discuss activities and give directions Work independently and make appropriate decisions regarding safety, work methods, and priorities MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 16 years of age. Responsibilities: The Direct Care Staff is responsible for providing individualized care and support to youth in a residential Behavioral Rehabilitation Services (BRS) foster care setting. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, grooming, cooking, cleaning, and medication management. The Direct Care Staff works closely with the Program Manager to facilitate communication, behavior management plans, therapeutic activities, and ensure the overall well-being of residents. Staff will also assist with medical needs, transportation, and community outings, creating a safe, supportive, and structured environment for the children in care. Provide individualized support to children in areas such as personal hygiene, grooming, cooking, cleaning, socialization, recreation, self-medication, menu planning, food purchasing, and more. Support clients as needed in physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. Actively participate in team meetings to assess youth progress, adjust treatment plans, and share updates regarding behavioral concerns or operational issues. Work closely with the Program Manager to facilitate communication and support as needed. Coordinate and manage transportation logistics for clients, ensuring safe travel to appointments, community outings, and other scheduled activities. Must be able to safely operate a personal vehicle for client transport. The Direct Care Staff must maintain a valid drivers license, have access to a reliable, insured vehicle, and ensure that the vehicle has up-to-date registration and insurance. Facilitate therapeutic activities to promote the development of coping skills, self-esteem, and social skills. Engage children in both individual and group outings and recreational activities that foster positive peer interactions. Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely documentation, including progress notes, incident reports, data collection, and other required records in compliance with agency policies and regulatory standards. Assist residents with medical needs, including assisting with healthcare appointments and transportation. Support clients with self-care and medication management in line with the individual treatment plans. Adhere to strict confidentiality standards to protect the privacy of clients, ensuring that no sensitive information is disclosed without proper authorization, in accordance with HIPAA. Physical Demands: Must be able to perform crisis intervention techniquessuch as de-escalation, redirection, and safe physical supportstaught through Right Response , a certified training program focused on managing behavioral emergencies with safety and compassion. Ability to push, pull, lift, clean, cook, and move throughout the home environment, including using stairs. Available Hours: Monday to Sunday, with preferred shifts from 3:00 PM 11:00 PM and 11:00 PM 7:00 AM. Consistent weekend availability for all shifts 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM 11:00 PM and 11:00 PM 7:00 AM. Full-time and part-time positions available, with flexible hours ranging from 24 to 48 hours per week. MUST HAVE WEEKEND AVAILABILITY Our residential settings operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Compensation: $20$22 per hour, based on experience. All new employees will begin with a 90-day probationary period. Minimum Requirements: A minimum of 6 months of documented full-time professional experience working with youth or vulnerable populations in one or more of the following settings: State-licensed in-home or facility-based daycare, or as a professional nanny School setting or early learning center Juvenile rehabilitation facility, detention center, law enforcement, or corrections Child placing agency, residential care program, or as a licensed foster parent Working directly with children or families in a community service organization And more.. OR An Associate's Degree in Human Services or a related field, or completion of two (2) years of coursework toward a relevant degree.
