Perform tasks with minimal supervision and with strict adherence to quality parameters as determined by the Medical Imaging Department @ DC. Maintain educational requirements including CPR, Ohio licensure, ARRT registration, participate in hospital-wide Mandatory Education, and EKG requirements as established by Cardiology. Recognize and advocate for each patient being an individual with unique healthcare needs and provide considerate, respectful care affirming the patient's right to make decisions regarding his/her medical care. Work with other departments to provide a smooth continuum of care for individual patients. Use appropriate hospital contacts to resolve patient issues and coordinate all available systems with accuracy. Maintain integrity of DC reputation and standards of care in an off-site setting. The Registered Polysomnography Technician is responsible for performing routine polysomnographic and electroencephalographic testing for the Children's Hospital Sleep Center of Akron.
Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for performing comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general supervision of the Sleep Lab Coordinator and/or the Sleep Center Medical Director or designee.
2. A Registered Polysomnography Technician provides guidance to a polysomnographic clinical student.
3. Performs routine and intermediate level polysomnograms in an accurate and timely manner.
4. Display pattern recognition abilities which extend to evaluating the normal and abnormal patterns common to each physiologic parameter, as well as assessment of various sleep stages, possible effects from medications, age related changes, and patterns which are specific to the parameter evaluated.
5. Provide accurate, complete, timely documentation for each procedure performed and maintain necessary records.
6. Practices proper care, usage, and maintenance of polysomnography equipment.
7. Provides training and guidance to Pediatric Sleep staff.
8. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
9. Other duties as required.

Technical Expertise
1. Experience in a Sleep Disorder Laboratory is preferred.
2. Pediatric sleep laboratory experience is preferred.
3. Strong problem-solving skills are required.
4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are required.

6. Experience in healthcare is preferred.

Education and Experience
1. Education: Graduate from an accredited program for polysomnography with a license to practice in the state of Ohio is required.

3. Must have obtained and maintain Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification.

5. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Patient Care - Procedures and Exams- Prepare patients and/or families for imaging procedures and examinations. Provide additional support to facilitate patient care in such situations.
* Process Improvement- Identify, lead, and direct process/quality improvement/assurance activities relevant to OR imaging. Measure and present results of improvement efforts and ongoing performance measures of processes. In collaboration with appropriate individuals, develop strategic plans for improvement. May manage activities such as training and audits which support process improvement initiatives/activities. May participate on process improvement team(s).
To function as a leader as an Imaging Technologist in the field of diagnostic imaging, specifically OR imaging. To facilitate and coordinate patient care, delivery and effective communication within the medical center dedicated to the care of infants, children, adolescents and those with childhood conditions. Work closely with team members of the Radiology Department and other collaborating departments, specifically Surgery, throughout the hospital. Provide guidance and training to technologists on OR imaging processes and assist manager with process improvement. May serve as Preceptor to new staff.
