Job Overview:
Performs routine and specific specialized diagnosticsonographic imaging procedures at a level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail under direction of a radiologist. Assists physicians with interventional ultrasound-guided procedures.
Job Duties:
* Performs diagnosticsonographic imaging procedures.
* Performs quality control and quality assessment.
* Assists physicians with interventional procedures.
* Ensures the day to day operations run smoothly and issues are reported promptly.
* Participates in staff in-service program.
* Help schedules patients.
* Keeps area supplied and clean.
* Assists with orientation of new staff and students.

* Perform HIS/RIS/PACS functions.

Provides patient education on procedures according to age-specific needs. Facilitates patients cooperation and alleviates anxiety by addressing concerns. Ensures appropriate documentation is completed prior to procedure. Assist Radiologists with procedures as needed.
Computer System: Ensures patient information is accurately inputted into departmental computer system. Checks-in patients for the appropriate radiological procedure, as directed in IDX-Rad. Selects the correct account during check-in, as directed in IDX-Rad. Completes patient procedure, as directed in IDX-Rad.
Customer Service: Provides timely, responsive, expert services to customers in a positive friendly manner, to include patient, physicians, and other fellow employees. Informs consumers and those accompanying them when delays exist and how they are being addressed. Promotes patient focused care throughout daily activities. Provides quality patient care to include preparation, scheduling, and teaching all types of patient procedures as needed. Maintains strict patient and employee confidentiality, as appropriate.
Patient and Employee Safety: No deviation from written procedures in Policy and Procedure Manual on radiation safety rules. Performs all necessary equipment checks prior to use, thereby protecting patient and staff safety. Ensures patient and regulatory standards are adhered to and suggests ways to improve patient outcomes when indicated. Completes quality assurance and quality control activities as appropriate. Job Summary:
Performs diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation. The registration requirement for this position is a registered sonographer holding two or more registries appropriate for the department(s) in which the sonographer works. Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.

Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.

Job Summary:
Performs diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation. The registration requirement for this position is a registered sonographer holding two or more registries appropriate for the department(s) in which the sonographer works. Criteria
A) Performs ultrasound procedures and examinations according to established department guidelines.
B) Clearly communicates & explains the exam procedure to the patient and any family member present to insure understanding and patient's consent for explained test.
C) Assesses patient's medical, cardiac or vascular status by taking a history before the exam.
D) Assembles a chart with the patient's information and enters information into the current PACS System or Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
E) Records all imaging studies (digital archive) for the Medical Director or his/her designee to review and interpret.
2) Completes patient billing to insure accurate and timely billing procedures. 5%
Criteria
Enters charges daily for procedures performed with no more than 1 error per week. Prints reports from PAC, Epic and On Demand. Checks each charge to ensure the right account number is used and the correct procedures are charged.
3) Supports all functions, goals and objectives of the department as well as development of any new programs. 5%
Criteria
A) Participate in development of new diagnostic testing procedures to be performed in the department. Participates in the evaluation of new equipment for potential purchase.
B) Educates residents and other medical or technical staff in the technical aspects, indications and limitations.
C) Enhances professional growth and development through annual participation in educational programs, in-services, workshops, reading current publications, on line CME through various professional organizations & manufacturers and viewing videotaped education programs. Complete required CEUs to maintain specialty certification.
D) Participates in research studies that require services of the department.
4) Safety/Infection Control: Practices according to safety and infection control policies. 3-5%

A) Practices universal precautions and disposes of hazardous wastes per established guidelines. Disinfects and cleans equipment according to manufacturers' guidelines and standards outlined by Infection Control and department policy, including high level disinfection (HLD).

C) Assists in clerical duties as required, including telephone responsibilities, processing of reports, posting/mailing of reports, filing, scheduling, etc.

A) Performs ultrasound procedures and examinations according to established department guidelines.
B) Clearly communicates & explains the exam procedure to the patient and any family member present to insure understanding and patient's consent for explained test.
C) Assesses patient's medical, cardiac or vascular status by taking a history before the exam.
D) Assembles a chart with the patient's information and enters information into the current PACS System or Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
E) Records all imaging studies (digital archive) for the Medical Director or his/her designee to review and interpret.
2) Completes patient billing to insure accurate and timely billing procedures. 5%
Criteria
Enters charges daily for procedures performed with no more than 1 error per week. Prints reports from PAC, Epic and On Demand. Checks each charge to ensure the right account number is used and the correct procedures are charged.
3) Supports all functions, goals and objectives of the department as well as development of any new programs. 5%

A) Participate in development of new diagnostic testing procedures to be performed in the department. Participates in the evaluation of new equipment for potential purchase.
B) Educates residents and other medical or technical staff in the technical aspects, indications and limitations.
C) Enhances professional growth and development through annual participation in educational programs, in-services, workshops, reading current publications, on line CME through various professional organizations & manufacturers and viewing videotaped education programs. Complete required CEUs to maintain specialty certification.

Criteria
A) Performs ultrasound procedures and examinations according to established department guidelines.
B) Clearly communicates & explains the exam procedure to the patient and any family member present to insure understanding and patient's consent for explained test.
C) Assesses patient's medical, cardiac or vascular status by taking a history before the exam.
D) Assembles a chart with the patient's information and enters information into the current PACS System or Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
E) Records all imaging studies (digital archive) for the Medical Director or his/her designee to review and interpret.
2) Completes patient billing to insure accurate and timely billing procedures. 5%
Criteria
Enters charges daily for procedures performed with no more than 1 error per week. Prints reports from PAC, Epic and On Demand. Checks each charge to ensure the right account number is used and the correct procedures are charged.
3) Supports all functions, goals and objectives of the department as well as development of any new programs. 5%
Criteria
A) Participate in development of new diagnostic testing procedures to be performed in the department. Participates in the evaluation of new equipment for potential purchase.
B) Educates residents and other medical or technical staff in the technical aspects, indications and limitations.
C) Enhances professional growth and development through annual participation in educational programs, in-services, workshops, reading current publications, on line CME through various professional organizations & manufacturers and viewing videotaped education programs. Complete required CEUs to maintain specialty certification.
D) Participates in research studies that require services of the department.
4) Safety/Infection Control: Practices according to safety and infection control policies. 3-5%
Criteria
A) Practices universal precautions and disposes of hazardous wastes per established guidelines. Disinfects and cleans equipment according to manufacturers' guidelines and standards outlined by Infection Control and department policy, including high level disinfection (HLD).
B) Maintains a safe, clean, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families/employees in accordance with hospital standards.

As a Sonography Student II, you will play a critical role in continuing the healing mission of Deaconess.
Job Overview
The Sonography Intern (Student II) is an advanced-level intern enrolled in the final phase of an accredited DiagnosticMedicalSonography program. The intern has successfully completed the Sonographer Student I level or equivalent coursework and clinical training. This position reflects progression toward independent scanning competency, demonstrating increased technical proficiency, clinical judgment, and efficiency in the performance of ultrasound procedures. The Student II participates in a broad range of imaging studies and may assist with complex or specialty exams as appropriate to the assigned clinical site. All duties are performed under the supervision of a Registered DiagnosticMedicalSonographer (RDMS) and in accordance with departmental, hospital, and program standards.
Job Duties
* Obtain and verify patient and clinical information to ensure appropriate exams are ordered and performed.
* Enter required patient and exam data accurately into the EMR and departmental tracking systems.
* Coordinate exam timing and preparation with nursing and other clinical staff.
* Perform ultrasound examinations under the direct supervision of a registered sonographer, demonstrating developing proficiency in image acquisition, measurements, and documentation.
* Assist the sonographer and/or physician during procedures, ensuring safe and effective operation of ultrasound equipment.
* Transfer completed studies to PACS or designated electronic systems for interpretation.
* Perform EKGs, if applicable for location, and other assigned diagnostic support tasks.
* Adhere to infection prevention and equipment disinfection protocols in accordance with hospital and departmental standards.
* Participate in departmental quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives.
* Demonstrate professionalism, effective communication, and patient-centered care consistent with hospital values.
* Perform other duties as assigned to support the Radiology Department and related service areas.
* Specific clinical responsibilities and exam types may vary based on facility and location assignment (e.g., general, vascular, maternal-fetal, neonatal, or specialty imaging).
* The Sonography Student II is an advanced-level intern who has successfully completed the Sonographer Student I phase or equivalent coursework and clinical training. This position demonstrates progression toward independent scanning competency, participates in more complex or specialty studies as appropriate to the clinical site, and functions with increased autonomy while maintaining oversight from a Registered DiagnosticMedicalSonographer.
Education Requirment
* High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
* Must be a enrolled in an accredited DiagnosticMedicalSonography program required
* Able to commit to required FTE hours per week as outlined in the program curriculum required
* Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA required
* Successfully complete required registry examinations as outlined by the educational program and in alignment with site or departmental expectations required
* Must be considered a senior-level student as defined by the program curriculum required
