Summary:
The Management Trainee at our Clearfield branch is a structured development program for high energy, team oriented, and competitive individual pursing leadership opportunities in the fast paced heavy duty truck industry. This program is designed to develop a pool of skilled team members eligible for postings in Sales Account Management and Assistant Management positions within the Hunter Truck network of dealerships.
Essential Duties: include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Successfully complete training program with rotations in each department of the organization: Parts, Service, Truck Sales, Leasing, Finance and Corporate departments
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with Hunter Truck management teams, customers, and vendors.
- Attend OEM, Vendor, dealership sponsored events and training as required. This will require travel and evening or occasional weekend assignments.
- Complete required training and obtain Commercial Driver’s License from the state where you reside.
- Demonstrate competence, skill, flexibility and ability to multi-task in each training module before progressing to the next phase.
- Demonstrate competence in small group / team leadership, problem resolution, customer care, creative thinking, solutions formulation, group presentation skills, project development and execution / implementation.
- Participation in weekly recap meetings with Department Manager, bi-weekly with General Manager, monthly with Corporate Support Managers, V.P., and Mentor.
Requirements:
- College Degree preferred, or 2 years work experience in franchise dealership or related industry; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Driver's License required; must meet company insurability standards
- Commercial Driver’s License (preferred) must meet company insurability standards
- Vehicle Sales License if in state (can obtain upon hire)

Responsibilities
What does a Reconditioning Manager do?
- Recruiting, Interviewing, Onboarding and training new detail or lot technician staff.
- Responsible for motivating the team, holding the team accountable, making personnel decisions and schedules.
- Quality Checks on all completed vehicles
- Ensure crew actively provides excellent finished product
- Training any staff members that are not producing a premium product
- Training detail staff on everything from cleaning to buffing, undercoating vehicles, light body work and PDR.
- Effectively manage and assist used vehicle technician.
- Manage used inventory in the pipeline and push to complete jobs
- Understand the workflow and need of the sales department
- Conduct quarterly employee evaluations
- Develop current staff for future growth and promotions
- Review and submit timesheets for payroll
- Support detail or lot staff with their duties
- Work with vendors to identify vehicles that need work, schedule and document process
- Keep recon spreadsheet updated as vehicles process thru the system
- Manage and order chemicals, cleaners and shop supplies as needed
- Organize team for snow days or any other mass inventory movements
Qualifications (Highly preferred but not required)
- 2+ years of automotive dealership experience
- 2+ years of management experience
- 2+ years of autobody experience
- 2+ years of vehicle repair experience
Good to Know Before You Start!
- Be prepared to work approximately 55 hours per week
- Team players only! You will work with multiple departments and many different people. Non-team players will fail at this job 100% of the time.
- Know your “stamp of approval” goes on every used vehicle, have pride in your teams work so inspect everything and build your team to produce the highest quality product.
- Schedule accordingly and be prepared to sub in nights or Saturdays as needed
- Be prepared to hire, train and manage FT and PT employees
- Must be adaptive to and embrace change
- Basic computer skills are needed
- You will walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, etc. for extended periods of time and perform activities involving holding, grasping, pulling and turning
- You may need to work in hot/cold weather conditions
- Always be alert and aware of your surroundings
- Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds
