Do you know what the attraction to hold such a responsible seat is? Well, it's practicing the power that too, along with an average salary of $40 per hour. But to apply for this job, you should have a minimum qualification of a bachelor's degree along with years of teaching experience.

Being at the top of an educational institute is not an easy job. You have a lot to do, including periodical meetings, whether that's with parents, teachers, or student bodies, remodeling the budget, and above all keep a check and balance on the whole educational system.

There is more than meets the eye when it comes to being a dean. For example, did you know that they make an average of $47.35 an hour? That's $98,486 a year!

Between 2018 and 2028, the career is expected to grow 7% and produce 13,500 job opportunities across the U.S.

What Does a Dean Do

There are certain skills that many deans have in order to accomplish their responsibilities. By taking a look through resumes, we were able to narrow down the most common skills for a person in this position. We discovered that a lot of resumes listed computer skills, organizational skills and problem-solving skills.

When it comes to the most important skills required to be a dean, we found that a lot of resumes listed 10.8% of deans included online, while 7.8% of resumes included student learning, and 5.9% of resumes included professional development. Hard skills like these are helpful to have when it comes to performing essential job responsibilities.

When it comes to searching for a job, many search for a key term or phrase. Instead, it might be more helpful to search by industry, as you might be missing jobs that you never thought about in industries that you didn't even think offered positions related to the dean job title. But what industry to start with? Most deans actually find jobs in the education and non profits industries.

How To Become a Dean

If you're interested in becoming a dean, one of the first things to consider is how much education you need. We've determined that 45.3% of deans have a bachelor's degree. In terms of higher education levels, we found that 14.3% of deans have master's degrees. Even though most deans have a college degree, it's possible to become one with only a high school degree or GED.

Choosing the right major is always an important step when researching how to become a dean. When we researched the most common majors for a dean, we found that they most commonly earn bachelor's degree degrees or master's degree degrees. Other degrees that we often see on dean resumes include associate degree degrees or doctoral degree degrees.

You may find that experience in other jobs will help you become a dean. In fact, many dean jobs require experience in a role such as teacher. Meanwhile, many deans also have previous career experience in roles such as internship or volunteer.
