Decypher is seeking Medical Laboratory Technician candidates to provide support to the Joint Base Fort Lewis-McChord, Tacoma, WA. IMMEDIATE NEED FOR EVENING SHIFT.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Must have completed an approved college-based laboratory
technician certification program and passed the certification test by an approved organization such as the National Certification Agency (NCA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
Work Experience: 1 year of experience working in the clinical lab as a Medical Technician, 6 month experience rotation through all sections of a medical laboratory required.
Certification: Current certification/registration as determined by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologist (AMT). BLS - Basic Life Support from AHA required.
Must be team oriented and willing to assist in other labs as needed

RESPONSIBILITIES

**Qualifications:**

+ Minimum of 12 months of experience within the past 36 months
+ Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT), or state licensure as a medical laboratory technician
+ Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation, and Criminal History Background Check (CHBC)
+ Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Workers by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
**Core Duties:**
+ Perform a full range of clinical laboratory tests in various sections including hematology, chemistry, cytology, histotechnology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, and blood bank
+ Determine specimen suitability for analysis and prepare specimens accordingly
+ Prepare reagents and primary reference materials as necessary
+ Calibrate, standardize, adjust, and maintain laboratory instruments
+ Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products
+ Prepare specimens for transport or mail/ship out
+ Handle and dispose of biological waste properly
+ Report unusual or grossly abnormal test results to section supervisor, pathologist or laboratory supervisor
+ Perform light general cleaning of work areas
+ Assist in the preparation of laboratory reports
+ Record test results to flat logs and request slips and file reports in the MHS Genesis.
+ Accession and order laboratory testing in MHS Genesis for clinic patients.
+ Perform basic front desk administrative tasks, greet patients warmly, log-in lab orders, provide sample collection instructions, perform phlebotomy, and process patient samples for laboratory testing.
**Additional Responsibilities:**
+ Verify correct instrument operation and identify/resolve common problems
+ Obtain and correlate analytical data
+ Maintain proper records for quality control and quality assurance reports
+ Report unusual or abnormal test results to supervisors
+ Screen/order officer training school accessions for required testing (JBSA-L specific)
