Attend pre-season meetings sponsored by the school for coaches, parents and students.
Maintain appropriate inventories relating to the specific sport, including recommending new equipment/uniforms, and retrieving uniforms/equipment at close of season.
Varsity coaches are responsible for the evaluation of all non-varsity coaches in that specific sport.
Provide written documentation regarding coaching policies.
Display the best qualities of good sportsmanship.
Coordinate with the Athletic Trainer proper records of student/athlete injuries and communicate health and safety issues to participants.
Enforce Heat Modification Policy with assistance of and in consultation with Athletic Trainer.
Communicate game results to the press.
Promote the specific sport to all levels (middle schools, recreation teams, etc.).
Promote and encourage participation in specific sport throughout the school year.
Reinforce all policies of the Chicopee School Committee, including the student discipline code and academic standing.
Reinforce all policies set by the MIAA.
Compliance with 105 CMR 201.000: Head Injuries and Concussions in Extracurricular Athletic Activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Active CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification through American Heart Association or Red Cross as well as Annual Concussion Training Certification.
Sport-specific knowledge of rules and policies.
Prior experience as a high school coach preferred. (MIAA sponsored coach's course if not experienced.)

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, adding machines, etc. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Must be able to stand, crouch and bend over for a long period of time at intervals throughout the day.
Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or composite characteristics (whether similar or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments or directions to subordinates or assistants.

Requires the ability to speak before groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form; and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical or professional languages including medical, legal, accounting and marketing terminology.

Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape.

Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as office equipment and hand tools. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
Interpersonal: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
