This position requires temporary relocation to St. Charles, IL to live on our 85-acre campus for 10 weeks from May 25th - August 4th, 2026. Room & Board (housing & daily meals) is included IN ADDITION to your compensation. FVCA camp staff are responsible for the general supervision and engagement of all campers in both our kids and teen camp programs. They provide a structured positive and safe environment for them to experience God in a camp setting. Our goal is to help our children explore nature, play games, bond with other campers, have fun but most importantly learn about Jesus Christ in an extraordinary way. Being patient, knowledgeable of camp activities and having the ability to build good relationships with children and teens are three essential traits for our staff. Role & Responsibilities: Supervise, guide, love, and care for a group of 7-10 campers at a week's time during the entire summer season at FVCA. Consistently engage with campers throughout the day and week including discussions over meal time, cabin devotionals, chapel and other planned activity sessions. Always create and maintain a positive and encouraging atmosphere throughout the Summer camp. Empower, serve, encourage, love and support all campers consistently. Follow all guidelines of FVCA, including the philosophy, goals, and objectives and also follow all of FVCA's safety procedures at all times. Maintain the safety of campers at all times, placing their welfare and interest above everything else. Help campers become more aware of God in each aspect of their lives so they are capable of continued growth on their own after camp. Assist with program evaluation at the end of each session and at the end of the summer. Assist in all scheduled program activities in the various areas of the camp when requested. Assist with recreational and educational activities (such as swimming, hiking, canoeing, crafting etc.) Escort and oversee children to cabin or activities when necessary. Educate campers through games and explorations. Resolve occasional fights between children and address behavioral issues. Ensure camping sites are clean and that campers don't litter in recreational areas or nature paths. Perform basic first aid or take care of injuries as needed. Complete accurate incident reports, camper report logs and meal count documentation. Attend all staff meetings and morning staff devotionals daily. Assist with camper morning and night-time routines. Take part in helping with the check-in and check out process of all campers off site. All camp staff will be asked to do other different tasks and or assignments as needed. Requirements/Qualifications: Have a life that exemplifies a relationship with Jesus Christ which also impacts the lives of others. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Must be able to pass a state and federal background check. Must have regular church attendance and a pastor/church leader reference. Must enjoy being outdoors for long periods of time, live in missionary like conditions and love camp activities. Experience working with children from low income communities. Must be able to adapt and relate, cross-culturally and embrace diversity. Must be coachable and have a willing heart to be challenged and receive guidance and direction on a daily basis. Must be a person who has high energy and an outgoing personality. The Bus Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of park district patrons between facilities, to special events or to trip destinations. Hours are flexible and usually under 20 per week. The Opportunity: Northern Illinois Food Bank seeks an extraordinarily motivated candidate to join our team as the Director of Community Nutrition Programs. THis role will develop the vision and drive the strategy for Northern Illinois Food Bank's Community Nutrition Programs. This role bridges the gap between high-level public health strategy and the tactical execution of federal programs, healthcare partnerships and nutrition education. This includes oversight over Child Nutrition Programs including CACFP and SFSP, Backpack, Family Mobile Markets, Summer Family Fresh Market, Nutrition Education programs, and Build Healthy Communities. The CNP Director will also ensure regulatory compliance of programs, policies, procedures and budgeting. The Director serves as a key architect of the Food Bank's community health impact, ensuring all programs are scalable, compliant, and deeply integrated into the strategic plan for Northern Illinois Food Bank and the 13 counties it serves. This Full-Time position is based out of our West Suburban Center (Geneva) location. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop, guide, and implement the strategic roadmap for Community Nutrition Programs in alignment with the Food Bank's Strategic Plan, Mission, and Vision. Lead the growth and expansion of innovative initiatives, including the Food as Medicine strategy and related community health models. Serve as a regional thought leader and organizational spokesperson on nutrition, public health, and food access, representing the Food Bank in public health forums, government relations efforts, and Feeding America networks. Oversee the design, implementation, and management of data-driven evaluation frameworks to measure program effectiveness, long-term outcomes, and community impact. Provide executive oversight of Child Nutrition Programs, ensuring full regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and adherence to federal and state requirements. Manage departmental budgets and resources, ensuring efficient and effective allocation across staffing, food, logistics, and program operations. Directly supervise, coach, and develop a diverse team of program managers, specialists, and coordinators, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, equity, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with Regional Impact Teams and cross-functional partners to identify, onboard, and support new program sites and community partners, ensuring equitable access across the service area. Lead and strengthen healthcare partnerships through initiatives such as Build Healthy Communities, including Rx Mobile Markets, Screen & Intervene, and hospital-based food pantry programs, by integrating nutrition support into clinical workflows. Partner with the Development team to provide programmatic expertise for grant proposals, funding applications, and donor impact reporting to support sustainability and growth. Standardize, deploy, and oversee nutrition education and community wellness curricula, including the Whole Body Approach, ensuring consistent, high-quality implementation across all service areas. Deep knowledge of the social determinants of health and the intersection of food insecurity, nutrition, and chronic disease. Bilingual Spanish language skills are a significant asset.
