Specializing in the Life Sciences, Delaware Valley College (DelVal) is a great place for aspiring Veterinary and Environmental Science professionals to pursue their undergraduate or graduate education. Located in Dolyestown, Pennsylvania, on a pretty campus of lush lawns and trees, DelVal is particularly well known for training students in the animal-oriented sciences. Its most common majors are, in fact, Small Animal Science, Equine Science and Conservation and Wildlife Management. Students may also choose to major in Agribusiness, Microbiology, Plant Science, Biotechnology or Zoology. DelVal's academics are not, however, confined to the sciences. Students may also choose to major in Business, Psychology, Criminal Justice and Communications. A teacher-certification course for adult learners who hold a bachelor's degree is also offered. Since students are usually studying challenging subjects in a rigorous environment they sometimes need support and DelVal makes sure that they get it. A comprehensive counseling department provides individual mental health counseling and referrals for group therapy as well as academic assistance, tutoring, career development, help with writing, and financial aid to those who qualify. The location itself can also help students to shake off stress. Not only does Doylestown have lots of restaurants, coffee shops and stores, but Philadelphia is only a short train ride away. Freshman applicants are evaluated primarily on the basis of their academic record, class-rank and standardized test scores. Transfer and graduate admissions have different requirements.
