Make sure refrigerated cases and display shelves are properly stocked and always faced according to product movement and department standards to ensure maximum sales, quality and freshness. Keep all meat ingredients or merchandise rotated in accordance with store policy and product code dates and always make use of the oldest product first (first in, first out). Ensure that all ready-to-cook meats are prepared within the proper recipe guidelines and in an appealing and appetizing manner. Wrap, weigh, and price all meats and related products processed in the department. Safeguard the food inventory to reduce spoilage and pilferage. Is familiar with invoice documents and confirm accuracy of item descriptions, size, quantities, and pricing during vendor product deliveries. When directed, inspect incoming merchandise for packaging, cleanliness, correct product identification, freshness and condition, rejecting any item from the delivery that does not meet the standards and requirements of the store (this may include transfers from other store locations). Accurately record markups and markdowns, in-store use of merchandise and bad merchandise/spoilage write-offs in accordance with company policies. Follow approved procedures for receiving and code dating products to ensure quality protection, accuracy, and product rotation. Be aware of competitor pricing and advertising and let the manager know if this would affect the department sales. Ensure meat cutting preparation is done with a minimal amount of waste. Order wrapping supplies for the department when directed (trays, shrink wrap film, labels, etc.) Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of all equipment to ensure safe, clean, and sanitary operating conditions. Be familiar with and use industry formulas to perform cutting tests and yields. When assigned, routinely check refrigeration equipment for proper performance. Make sure meat cuts are properly wrapped, prices and attractively presented, and restocking cases to ensure quality protection, accuracy, and product rotation. Assist other meat staff in the performance of their duties so that they will be familiar with and able to handle all jobs and positions within the meat area. Keep all meat ingredients or merchandise rotated in accordance with store policy and product code dates and always make use of the oldest product first (first in, first out). Ensure that all ready-to-cook meats are prepared within the proper recipe guidelines and in an appealing and appetizing manner. Wrap, weigh, and price all meats and related products processed in the department. Safeguard the food inventory to reduce spoilage and pilferage. Is familiar with invoice documents and confirm accuracy of item descriptions, size, quantities, and pricing during vendor product deliveries. When directed, inspect incoming merchandise for packaging, cleanliness, correct product identification, freshness and condition, rejecting any item from the delivery that does not meet the standards and requirements of the store (this may include transfers from other store locations). Accurately record markups and markdowns, in-store use of merchandise and bad merchandise/spoilage write-offs in accordance with company policies. Follow approved procedures for receiving and code dating products to ensure quality protection, accuracy, and product rotation. Be aware of competitor pricing and advertising and let the manager know if this would affect the department sales. Ensure meat cutting preparation is done with a minimal amount of waste. Order wrapping supplies for the department when directed (trays, shrink wrap film, labels, etc.) Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of all equipment to ensure safe, clean, and sanitary operating conditions. Be familiar with and use industry formulas to perform cutting tests and yields. When assigned, routinely check refrigeration equipment for proper performance. Make sure meat cuts are properly wrapped, prices and attractively presented, and restocking cases to ensure quality protection, accuracy, and product rotation. Assist other meat staff in the performance of their duties so that they will be familiar with and able to handle all jobs and positions within the meat area. Under the direction of the Meat Manager, mark down nearly dated products daily to promote sales of unsold goods and maintain the store' image for the highest quality for freshly baked products. Deli Clerks prepare and display ready to eat products according to company and regulatory agency guidelines and provide exemplary customer service and satisfaction. Required Skills/Abilities: Reworks display case to assess daily production needs and rotates product. Stores and rotates stock. Brings cases of product from cooler to prepare for display. Cleans and sanitizes area throughout the day. Performs duties to comply with health code, such as sanitation standards maintaining proper temperatures, product rotation, and expiration dates. Packages, wraps, weigh, and labels product for sales according to company and regulatory agency guidelines. Operates oven, dishwasher, scale, and slicing machines. Follows safety and security procedures. Prepares hot food. Proofs, rolls, shapes, add toppings or fillings and bakes items, such as chicken and hot dogs. Provides prompt and courteous customer service, including special orders and customer requests. Cleans and sanitizes machines, work surfaces, floors, pans, utensils, and counters. Stages ingredients to preparation area and refills dispensing machines. Operate oven, dishwasher, slicer, manual pallet jack, wheeled carts, trash compactor, cardboard baler, product marking gun, shrink wrap machine, scale, wrench, screwdriver, pliers, box knife, trim knife, computer, spreadsheet programs, e-mail. Occasionally operate cash register, handheld scanners, computer, phone, printer. Experience/Education: A High School Diploma or GED is preferred. Food preparation experience preferred.
