This position safely operates school buses under all types of weather conditions, including, but not limited to fog, rain, sleet, and snow. ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES * Transports students to and from school, following a preplanned route according to a definite time schedule. * Ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the public. * Successfully completes school bus driver training programs and courses established by the Arkansas Department of Education and Heber Springs School District. * Regulates heating equipment and ventilation of bus for comfort of passengers. * Drives bus carefully and safely in compliance with all traffic regulations, such as but not limited to; before stopping, operate stop sign and flashing lights on bus to alert traffic. * Assumes responsibility for the safety of school children in loading, unloading, and transporting students on scheduled routes and/or on all types of trips in support of district-approved activities. * Instructs children in safety precautions and practices.
