Job Description Job Summary: The bus driver is responsible for transporting students safely and efficiently over specified routes according to a time schedule and driving activity trips as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned. Adheres to all federal, state and district rules, policies and regulations Obeys all traffic laws and reports to the supervisor any citation received in a school bus or personal vehicle. Drive safely and professionally. Refrain from eating or drinking while operating the bus. Performs a daily pre-trip and post-trips inspection on the bus and any defective items. Keeps accurate records of miles traveled and turn in any fuel receipts. The driver ensures that school bus aisles and exits are not blocked in compliance with State Board of Education rules and regulations. The aisles must be free of obstructions so the bus could be evacuated without difficulties. The rule applies to all routes/trips. Transport students over specified routes according to an established time schedule. Transport students to events and field trips. Supervise students while transporting them. Communicates in an appropriate fashion with students, parents and employees. Sweeps the bus, disposes of waste, and closes windows after the last route/trip each day. Participates in required training and required drug and alcohol testing. Attend a minimum of 8 hours of training annually as required by the Department of Revenue. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: High school diploma or equivalent, valid Missouri Commercial Driver's License with S endorsement, must have clear results on a state background check and allow access to their vehicle/driver record for information relating to the commercial driver license.
