In 1845, William Welch Deloitte opened an office in Basinghall Street in London.
He went on to open an office in New York in 1880.
George Touch, his original name before he changed it to Touche, qualified as an accountant in Edinburgh in 1883 and set of south to make his fortune.
In 1896, Charles Waldo Haskins and Elijah Watt Sells formed Haskins & Sells in New York.
In 1900, he established an office in New York.
He ventured into politics and became an MP for Noth Islington in 1910.

In 1968, Tohmatsu & Co. was incorporated.
In 1972 Robert Trueblood, Chairman of Touche Ross, led the committee responsible for recommending the establishment of the Financial Accounting Standards Board.
In 1975, a formal agreement is made in which Tohmatsu Awoki & Co. became a part of the Touche Ross International network.
In 1989, the firm has 800 people in its Tokyo office, and many on assignment in Touche Ross offices around the world.
In 1990, the merger happens that forms Deloitte & Touche.
In 1993, the international firm was renamed Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu to reflect the contribution from the Japanese firm, as well as agreements to use both of the names Deloitte and Touche.
In 1995, the partners of Deloitte & Touche decided to create Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group (now known as Deloitte Consulting).
In 2000, Deloitte acquired Eclipse to add Internet design based solutions to its consulting capabilities.
In 2002, Arthur Andersen’s UK practice, the firm’s largest practice outside the U. S., agreed to merge with Deloitte’s UK practice.
In January 2012, Deloitte announced the acquisition of Übermind, Inc., an innovative mobile agency.
