The Melt Utility Technician a member of our Melt Department responsible for the daily preparation and operation of melting equipment and operations. Duties/Responsibilities: Assists in preheat, melting, tapping, de-gas, charging scrap, lime and alloyws, slagging off, taking heat temperatures, taking chemistry samples, making additons and pouring operation. Assist with daily preparation of E-3 furnace by cleaning and changing out electrodes. Cleans and inspects plates, molds, pouring pits, and ladles Assisting with the constructing and setting up bottom pour plates, stools, stools, molds and hot tops. Assisting with daily preparation of ladles; inspection of Argon lines and plugs, clean and inspect slide gate, insert correct size nozzle plates, etc. Assisting with the Degas preparation and operation; ensuring all functions of Degas are pre-checked prior to the start of operation. Assisting with weighing alloys for heat/verify weights as required. Monitoring supply inventories.
