The Senior Reservoir Engineer will provide technical and strategic support to the Haynesville Development team, with responsibilities spanning prospect delineation, performance forecasting, development planning, economic evaluation, flowback optimization, production forecasting, post-well reviews, and reserves estimation. This role works cross-functionally with teams including Finance, Geoscience, Wells, Operations, and Midstream to drive value creation and deliver key business outcomes in a high-activity, multi-rig drilling program.
Key Accountabilities
Develop and maintain integrated reservoir development plans in collaboration with the Geoscience team, optimizing future well placement and identifying well interventions to maximize field value.
Lead development project AFEs and pre-spud technical reviews in coordination with Geology, Land, Drilling & Completions (D&C), Facilities, Commissioning, and Midstream teams.
Define and implement fit-for-purpose reservoir and well surveillance programs to enable performance evaluation, hydrocarbon-in-place estimation, and development optimization.
Apply rate and pressure transient analysis (RTA/PTA) to assess well performance and inform completion design and spacing strategies.
Lead technical data acquisition and subsurface evaluation efforts in collaboration with the Subsurface Technology team to improve field development strategies.
Work closely with Drilling, Completions, and Facilities teams to optimize well design and maximize asset value.
Perform economic evaluations of development scenarios and make recommendations for project execution.
Analyze and recommend action on third-party (OBO) development proposals, including decisions on participation or divestment.
Develop and guide flowback strategies to ensure new wells achieve optimal productivity.
Monitor in-year production wedge performance and conduct regular forecasting and economic assessments.
Execute post-well reviews in collaboration with Wells, Geoscience, and Operations to evaluate performance and integrate learnings into future development.
Contribute innovative ideas to the opportunity hopper and progress viable concepts through the development funnel to execution.
Support Corporate Reserves processes, including resource classification and reserve estimation.
Represent BPX in partner engagements, aligning on development strategies and influencing outcomes that enhance value.
Essential Experience and Education
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
BS in Petroleum Engineering or other Engineering fields
A minimum of 7 years of unconventional reservoir engineering experience
Skilled with Aries, Rate Transient Analysis Softwares, and MS Office
Experience with PowerBI/Spotfire or other data visualization/analytical tools
Reservoir modeling experience is preferred (preference for CMG experience).
Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills
Strong analytical skills and ability to handle complex datasets
Demonstrated ability to work well in teams

About the role
The Principal Facilities Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering support to operating the Assai Renewal Natural Gas (RNG) plant located in Throop, PA.
A key asset for Archaea Energy, this facility converts landfill gas, collected at the landfill, into pipeline quality natural gas (High Btu or Renewable Natural Gas). The facility processes the landfill gas by removing the majority of the non-methane components including CO2, Nitrogen, water, sulfur and volatile and non-volatile organic compounds to attain pipeline quality gas.
The support will range from plant optimization to small upgrade projects. This role will work closely with Operations and Maintenance personnel at the plant in support of achieving plant runtime and production KPI's. They will also work closely with in-house Engineering teams and 3rd party Engineering Contractors to develop workpack deliverables for plant modifications. A key accountability will be maintaining and updating Process Safety Information for the plant.
The successful candidate must be able to report to the plant in Throop, PA at least 3 days per week. You must live near the site or be willing to relocate to report into the site to be considered for the role.
Key accountabilities
Lead the creation of MOC's to document plant modifications and upgrades
Work directly with 3rd-party engineering firms for engineering deliverables that are not internally generated
Work with plant PSM coordinator to ensure PSM deliverables are kept up to date
Review and approve major engineering submittals generated by 3rd parties
Provide engineering input into operating, maintenance, commissioning, and start-up procedures and strategies
Drive the right level of risk assessment for changes, from a Hazard Checklist to a HAZOP
Ensure designs are aligned with safety and long-term serviceability as top priorities
Act as a resource for new operators and technicians in the design and operation of the gas plant
Provide start-up support for plant upgrades
Essential education

More than 5 years experience with natural gas processing, refining, petrochemicals or related field.

Job Summary
RM conducts Well Plugging and Abandonment (P&A) services in three specific areas:
**bpx:** legacy wells in continental US under the attached Service Level Agreement (SLA) . These legacy wells relate to previous operations or commitments linked to companies like Amoco, ARCO, Vastar, BHP Petrohawk, etc., and are not actively managed by bpx. On an annual basis, RM generally plugs and abandons between 5 and 8 wells of varying complexity. Scope of work may also include dismantling of abandoned infrastructure associated with the well field.
**bp Canada:** legacy P&A investigation into leaking well notices from regulators and, if needed, P&A services for bp Canada under the attached bp Canada SLA. The role would consult with and advise in-country liability manager.
**Alaska:** Legacy exploration wells (and associated environmental matters) outside the bpxa sale to Hillcorp. At present, there are only two active regulatory directives for P&A and environmental/reclamation work; Foggy Island Bay State #1 (completed in 2024) and Gubc Unit No 1 (work to start in winter 2025/2026). There are approximately 65 well sites with known bp heritage company ties. As the Alaska sale to Hillcorp was completed in 2020, residual P&A and environmental scope were assigned to RM. RM is working to firm up governance on this process thru the Wells organization.
Legacy wells present distinct difficulties. These wells are aged and have been inactive for extended periods, with frequently inadequate or non-existent drilling and plugging records. They are typically situated in remote areas, on third-party owned property and may be built with unconventional/unknown casing and cements designs.
The RM Legacy Wells Specialist manages all aspects of legacy well plugging and abandonment (P&A). This includes collaborating with BP Legal and the RM Land and Legal Team to confirm BP's responsibility for P&A, coordinating with land agents to secure site access, communicating with landowners and regulatory agencies, planning project activities, selecting and hiring contractors, overseeing P&A operations, handling demolition and removal of existing structures such as tanks and pipelines, and completing site restoration. A detailed list of specific responsibilities is provided below.
Job Responsibilities
* Ensure that the mechanical and cement plugs are correctly positioned and installed properly to serve as reliable long-term barriers .
* Oversee contractor performance, scope, and service quality for well abandonment and decommissioning to ensure cost-effectiveness
* Prepare all decision support documents (DSP) according to the Project Common Process guidelines. This includes completing the necessary abandonment engineering and operational activities for each Capital Value Process (CVP) delivery stage.
* Evaluate execution and operational performance for post-project review, establish benchmarks, and document key lessons learned .
* Schedule projects, select contractors, prioritize the completion of projects
* Coordinate with regulatory organizations, such as the Bureau of Land Management, appropriate state agencies (e.g. LA Department of Energy and Natural Resources), and the US Coast Guard.
* Identify and offer solutions for plug and abandonment problems in legacy wells.
* Engage with regulatory bodies, contractors, legal representatives and external stakeholders such as property owners.
* Obtain all necessary permits from federal and state agencies and secure property access rights from landowners.
* Manage property restoration activities subsequent to plug and abandonment operations.
