This is a full time position reporting to the Associate Manager of Clinical Services' (AMCS).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
* Greeting and checking in patients on arrival to clinic; collecting patient payments and ensuring accurate billing information
* Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records
* Provide medical report and/or triage information to providers and nursing staff
* Obtain medical information from patients and measure their vital signs
* Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean
* Assemble, sterilize, and restock all medical trays and tools in Central Prep (CP); maintain room readiness and infection control standards
* Insert and remove IVs, collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, prepare them for testing with LabCorp, and create lab orders
* Provide ultrasound support for procedures and patient care, once trained
* Explain treatment procedures, medications (non-narcotics), or physicians' instructions to patients, including non-medical discharge instructions
* Clean and sterilize instruments, dispose of contaminated supplies, process biomedical waste
* Maintain inventory of supplies for clinical care in coordination with Clinical Services and the Operations Team
* Participate in genetic testing coordination by collecting blood or tissue, completing forms, packaging kits, and calling FedEx
* Assist physicians to examine and treat patients by handing them instruments or materials
* Perform general office duties, taking dictation, or completing medical forms under supervision from the associate manager of clinical services
* Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; keeping patient information confidential
* Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
* High school diploma/ GED; Associates degree in Medical Assisting preferred
* Current Medical Assistant certification (AAMA CMA, AMT RMA, NHA CCMA or NCCT NCMA) required; BLS certification required
* Minimum two years of experience working in an ambulatory clinic/medical office setting
* Ability to master electronic scheduling platforms (Quickbase, etc.)
* Flexibility with scheduling; willingness to take on call shifts and stay after hours when needed on a rotation with other staff
* Possess an ability to multitask in a high stress, physically demanding setting
* Previous experience in abortion care or healthcare
* An understanding of and commitment to deconstructing the ways in which racism, sexism, classism, and ableism manifest and cause harm in healthcare and more broadly
* Strong commitment to a person's bodily autonomy and their right to access abortion care in all trimesters
* Bilingual fluency in Spanish preferred
Physical and Work Environment
* Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 5:30 PM.
* Some Fridays are administrative days with the expectation that meetings will be attended.
* Clinical Fridays occur 1-3x a month. Tuesday to Friday clinical weeks occur as needed and following Monday holidays.
* Monday to Friday clinical weeks occur when there is a designated clinical Friday.
* This position is eligible for overtime
* This position requires taking weeklong on-call shifts 1-2x a month, and staying after 5:30 pm if needed for patient care 1-2 times a week.
