The physician assistant will be primarily involved in direct patient care in support of our Orthopedic Sports Medicine specialist. Duties include assist in the outpatient clinic/hospital setting, operating room following standard practice guidelines to provide safe and effective medical care. All duties will be as defined in the scope of the State of Illinois standards and the Physician Assistant practice act.
We are seeking a detail oriented, motivated, hard working Physician Assistant to join our team and work with our board certified, fellowship trained Orthopedic Sports medicine surgeon with specialization in arthroscopy and treatment of injuries of the Shoulder, Elbow, Hip and Knee.
Responsibilities
Hospital/Surgical Center Responsibilities
May need to round in the hospital on rare occasions with inpatients
May need to assist in hospital consults on rare occasions.
Assists the surgeon with major and minor surgical procedures in the operating room.
Positions, preps and drapes the patient, as needed.
Closes surgical wounds and performs post-operative wound care
Applies dressings, casts, splints, braces, etc.
Performs minor surgical procedures within scope of licensure.
Responsible for coordinating patient care between the office and the hospital, writing orders for surgical patients both pre and post operatively, and reporting the condition of care of hospitalized patients to the physician
Sees patients in the clinic both independently and with supervision. Dictates clinic progress notes. Orders appropriate tests and develops patient treatment plans with physician approval.
Performs joint aspirations/injections.
Interprets x-rays.
Applies casts, splints, braces, etc. under supervision of the physician.
Removes staples, sutures as needed
Assists in fielding/triaging physician calls.
Reviews lab results, x-rays, and MRI/CT results prior to entering patient exam room
Confers with physician regarding new patient findings and potential diagnosis and treatment.
Administers therapeutic injections and performs minor procedures as needed
Reviews pre-operative instructions and explains the surgical process to patients who are about to have surgery
Provides diagnosis and treatment services to established patients and postoperative patients
Prescribes medications, treatments, in accordance with physician protocols and ensures that all prescriptions and required notes are in patient?s medical record
Formulates and updates patient care plans; consults with physician as needed
Orders pre-operative tests, CT scans, and MRIs, and documents, utilizing the EHR software
Follows applicable ICD 10 and billing guidelines.
Returns patient phone messages at designated times throughout the day; follow through with appropriate action; documents action taken in patient chart.
Physical requirements
Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, as well as manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Employees will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Position requires lifting associated with patient transfers (up to 50 lbs.)
Normal visual acuity and hearing are required.
The employee will work under stressful conditions and work irregular hours.
The employee will be exposed to bodily fluids on a regular basis.
The employee will have frequent exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
Travel to all associated hospitals and/or facilities

Educational Requirements
Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program with completed residency.
Physician AssistantIL state licensure up to date
Training in orthopedic care preferred
Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
Active Certification from NCCPA
Active Licensure as Physician?s Assistant in the State of Illinois
ACLS desirable; current CPR required

Ability to make appropriate, thoughtful and independent decisions regarding care

Strong interpersonal skills, able to work well and communicate professionally with physicians, patients and staff in all levels in the organization.
Use good judgment to determine if a problem requires consultation, referral or evaluation by the Supervising Physician or other health care professional.

As an APP on the Trauma Surgery service, you will respond to trauma activations in the ER, assist in consultations, and contribute to the management for 20-50 high-acuity patients. Responsibilities
Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
Maintain complete and accurate documentation
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.

We are looking for a qualifies Oral Surgery DentalAssistant to join our premiere dental practice.
The right applicant will have experience preparing oral surgery patients, ensuring that they are comfortable and offering another set of hands for procedures. Assistants must help Oral Surgeons to clearly see problems and changes within a patient's mouth. This often requires taking x-rays of the bone structure of a patient's jaw, as well as taking photographs of the teeth.
Responsibilities
Help Oral Surgeons prepare for procedures by having the necessary tools sterilized and in place
Help keep a patient's mouth clean and dry during procedures and hand the Oral Surgeon the necessary tools at the appropriate time
Patient education; explain procedures and discuss treatment progress and plans
This position will include all aspects of clinical dental care
Requirements
Previous oral surgery chairside assisting is preferred
Positive attitude and enthusiasm for the workday
Excellent customer service skills with an outgoing, people friendly personality
The ideal applicant will display and demonstrate excellent communication skills with staff and patients
Desire to learn new skills and expand your potential
Coronal polishing/sealant, and/or nitrous certified
