• Examine patients' oral cavities-including mouth, throat, and pharynx-and record conditions of
teeth, gums, and surrounding tissues.

lesions, or periodontal disease to the supervising dentist for evaluation and treatment.
• Apply desensitizing and topical agents to aid in the prevention or treatment of caries, gingivitis,
and oral ulcerations.
• Provide oral hygiene instruction to individual patients and groups, demonstrating proper
brushing and flossing techniques, explaining the causes of tooth decay, and discussing the role
of nutrition and general health in oral care.
• Take impressions and fabricate sports/safety mouth guards and soft night guards for use in vital
bleaching or protection.
• Polish restorations and apply pit and fissure sealants as indicated.
• Assist chairside during dental procedures when directed by the Officer-in-Charge of the dental
clinic.
• Record treatment data, maintain patient documentation, and ensure instruments and
equipment are cleaned, sharpened, sterilized, and in proper working order.
• Utilize Dentrix to accurately enter patient-specific workload data, readiness status, and to
schedule patient appointments in accordance with Navy protocols.

We are looking for Medical Assistant II Float to join our clinics! Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, our Medical Assistant II plans and organizes the work of the Medical Assistant staff on their team and within their Community Health Care clinic. They assist with resolving operational problems, improvement of quality outcomes, and assessment of clinical workflow. In addition, they assist with training activities, data collection, policy and procedures implementation and workflow changes related to the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model and value-based payment systems. As a lead, they coordinate the activities of Medical Assistants on their team or within their Community Health Care clinic plus checks the work of Medical Assistants and aids and instruction as needed, particularly with pre-visit planning, use of standing orders, and accurate documentation of clinical guidelines. They also participate in QPI projects, QA activities, data entry and tracking for programs, routine staff meetings, in-services, and team-building activities. In addition, our Medical Assistant II's perform the duties of Medical Assistants as needed including, but are not limited to, preparing patients for examination, collecting specimens, processing referrals, ordering supplies and cleaning equipment, plus other duties as assigned.
