This position is a fulltime, non-exempt responsible for assisting the Dentist(s) and Dental Hygienist(s) in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients of the center. The Dental Assistant is also responsible for sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or GED certificate.
Completion of accredited course in dental assisting preferred.
Ability to attend to multiple tasks at the same time and to prioritize assignments and responsibilities to ensure compliance with established deadlines and protocols.
Effective oral and written communication skills in English are required. Effective oral communication skills Spanish preferred.
Certified Dental Assistant preferred.
Current CPR (BLA) required.
Requires a comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting techniques and procedures for all phases of general dentistry.
Knowledge of modern dental materials. Their storage, handling and applications are required.
The Dental Assistant must be cognizant of the expectations and concerns of the centers dental patients and be able to respond in an empathetic and professional manner. The ability to work with persons from a wide diversity of social, ethnic and economic backgrounds is necessary. The Dental Assistant must be able to creatively work with other health care professionals from a variety of disciplines to achieve maximal results for the centers patient forma, a system of integrated primary health care.
The ability to distinguish letters and symbols as well the ability to utilize telephones, computer terminals and copiers is required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists patients in resolving minor difficulties, answering questions, and giving directions as authorized by the dentist.
Chair-side assisting abilities, including four-handed dentistry capability in administration of treatment.
Prepare operatory for patient treatment as per Dental Department protocols and dentists specific instructions, including greeting patients and escorting to the operatory.
Expose and develop radiographs, knowledge of radiograph software.
Compliance with Dental Department directives and protocols relative to Infection Control, Exposure Control and Safety Issues.
Maintenance of dental equipment, supplies, clinical area, and thorough knowledge of dental charting software.
Place and receive necessary telephone calls consistent with professional maters, clinic business, and patient care.
Assist with various clinical and administrative functions of the center, including appropriate utilization of teamwork.
Ensure sterility of all re-usable dental instruments in accordance with protocols, including necessary documentation.
Ensure proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials.
Use of Personal Protective Equipment and universal precautions and maintain a sterile and neat working environment.
Attendance to work, processing patients in a timely manner, and can perform job duties with minimal supervision.
Supply ordering an inventory record keeping.
Reports to work on time and is ready to work in designated work area.
Review daily schedule to set up appropriate trays and instruments.
Works effectively with all disciplines and corrective criticism from supervisors.
Desire to want to lean more or further ones dental knowledge by application of herself.

This position is responsible for providing treatment to patients in the facilities served by working with the DDS, clinical coordinator, and staff at facility. Registered Dental Hygienists complete on-site hygiene services, as well as work with their clinical support managers and staff at nursing homes to ensure that the patients and facilities needs are met.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Review patients lists prior to visit and ensure all supplies/equipment are available for all patients.
* Arrive on time, check in with dental contact, and review list of patients to be seen.
* Transport, set-up and take down equipment and supplies in room designated as workspace by facility.
* Work with contacts at nursing home to coordinate transfer or patients and their chart to and from the treatment room. If issues with transport of patients/charts and all options have been exhausted, call clinical support manager for assistance.
* Perform required care including taking X-rays, cleaning teeth and dentures, applying sealants, assess patient's oral heath to report finding to dentist, following all ADA and Company standards of care.
* Explain procedures as they are completed to patient. Follow up with staff at facility to review recommendations for patient.
* Enter chart notes for treatment provided into Salesforce at the time of treatment.
* Ensure that OSHA safety and cleanliness regulations are followed during patient treatment.
* Ensure that disposables are handled correctly before leaving facilities.
* Check out with dental contact at facility, including review of chart notes. Leave printed copies of chart notes with facilities for patient charts.
* Work with clinical support manager on schedule and follow up of patient care and treatment.
* Maintain dental equipment through regular cleaning and maintenance routines.
* Inventory supplies and order as needed.
* Follow regulated OHSA guidelines in handling and sterilization of instruments.
* Utilize personal vehicle for equipment/supply transport and traveling to scheduled facility visits.

Provide a more personal approach to direct patient care in a variety of outpatient settings, which may include rooming patients, taking vitals, obtaining a comprehensive medical history, document care of patient via electronic medical record, administering vaccines, injections, and medications, phlebotomy, point of care testing and medication reconciliation under the supervision of RN/Provider.
Gather requirements from internal and external customers and provide information via phone, electronic messaging and in person.
Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations, referrals, and process sample medications, prescriptions, and refills as directed.

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is at the forefront of Proactive MD's clinical operations and is a champion of our Patient Promise: “We are only and always about the patient. As directed by the provider and Health Center Nurse Manager, the CMA assists the provider and performs appropriate tests and procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with treatments ordered by provider as supervised by provider or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.
Interviews patients measure vital signs and record information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.
Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
May document the provider's encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider. Transcribes patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Ability to draw blood and confident in blood draw skills
High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree preferred.
Certification as a Medical Assistant preferred.
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association valid for at least 90 days after start date
Experience working with Pediatric patients.
Ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to prioritize needs and plan work accordingly.
Knowledge of HIPAA.
Certification in hearing and fit testing preferred or willing to get certified.
