What You'll Be Working On
● Provide exceptional customer service and build trust with patients of all ages
● Prepare treatment rooms including, but not limited to, set-up, decontamination, sterilizing and sharpening instruments, restocking supplies
● Educate patients and their parents on the importance of preventative care, the disease process and the role of bacteria; provide appropriate instruction on home care

JOB SUMMARY
Assists the dentists with providing dental care to the patients of Union Community care (UCC). Also responsible for maintaining the dental equipment, supplies, clinical area and ensuring OSHA compliance.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES
Patient Care
1. Welcomes and prepares patient to be treated by the dentist
2. Helps patient to feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment
3. Takes any prescribed radiographs (x-rays) for the dentists
4. Reviews health and dental histories with the patient
5. Takes patient's blood pressure
6. Places restorative material after dentist has prepared tooth (teeth)
7. Places sealants, polishes and applies fluoride varnish as directed by dentist
8. When necessary make notes in the dental chart (i.e. chief complaint and blood pressure readings)
9. Prepares operatory for procedure to be performed
10. Assists dentist in performing four-handed dentistry following established Policies and Protocols for each individual procedure
11. Places and removes rubber dams and matrices (Under Direct Supervision)
12. Places and contours amalgam, composite, and other restorative material (Under Direct Supervision)
13. Place dental sealants (Under Direct Supervision)
14. Apply fluoride treatments and polishing teeth (Under Direct Supervision)
15. Following the dental procedure, gives patient any necessary post-op instructions or home care instructions
16. Completes the patient visit by taking them to the check-out desk
Operatory Maintenance
17. After every visit removes all disposable barriers and instruments
18. Uses proper pre-cleaning and disinfecting procedures to disinfectant all surfaces and supplies
19. Replaces all barriers in operatory and sets up instruments for the next patient
20. Maintains dental equipment and informs Dental PM about any necessary equipment repairs
21. Ensures dental supplies are stocked in proper areas (i.e. operatory and lab)
• Dental Laboratory
22. Cleans and sterilizes dental equipment after every patient visit
23. Maintains sterilization equipment
24. Re-stocks and pulls supply tags for the dental order, gives supply tags to Dental PM 2
25. Maintains dental radiograph sensors and machine
26. Pours impressions
27. Tracks dental laboratory cases and contacts dental labs as needed for pick-up or other communications
Miscellaneous Duties
28. Participates in any meetings, seminars, or training sessions as directed.
29. Assists as an interpreter for dental providers as needed
30. Assists front desk in times of under-staffing
31. Performs other work-related duties as assigned

• License recertification every two years
