PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Expanded Duty DentalAssistant (EDDA) assists dentists in providing efficient and effective care and treatment of patients. PRINCIPLE DUTIES

Complete all steps necessary to prepare operatory and room patient prior to dentist seeing the patient, including collecting health history and updating patient chart. Review chart notes and verify reason for visit with patient.
Assist the dentist throughout the patient visit and work under direction of the dentist to complete all tasks associated with direct patient care including chairside assisting, 4-handed dentistry, etc. Obtain radiographic images and load into EDR system. Deliver preventive education to patients.
Conduct expanded functions as directed by dentist.
Complete paperwork associated with patient care (i.e. lab cases, preauthorization requests) as directed by the dentist and/or supervisor.
Determine and schedule follow-up appointments as required, explain post-treatment instructions to patients, and see patient to check-out desk to finalize the visit.
Completes all necessary procedures for maintaining proper maintenance of the operatory and dental equipment.
Uses downtime to complete activities that support efficient departmental operation.
Completes departmental activities that support the hygienist to further support efficiency and team goals.
Performs related work and other duties or tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities Delivers clinically excellent dental care through education and quality treatment. Assists dentists and hygienists in quality diagnosis through X-rays, verbal communication, and other dental tests as directed. Helps ensure efficient operations by seeking patient referrals, maintaining equipment, utilizing supplies cost-effectively, and posting patient charges accurately.
Follows CDC and OSHA guidelines for safety and infection control.
Completes all clinical notes according to practice guidelines before dismissing the patient.
Prepares treatment room for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols. Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area; positioning instruments for the dentist's access; suctioning; and passing instruments.
Places and finishes permanent restorations, complete preliminary impressions.
Qualifications
Have your EDDA or EFDA certification
Have your high school diploma or equivalent
Obtain your radiology and CPR certification within the required timeframe
Must pass a background check and drug screening
