Job Summary and Responsibilities Provides basic level of patient care and treatments. Assists with obtaining vital signs, documents chief complaint and all actions taken. Alerts physician of problems/concerns/abnormalities. Assists with obtaining patient history, assists physicians and residents and/or licensed nursing personnel. Performs simple patient procedures, sets up exam/procedure rooms including instruments for minor procedures, prepares and may include administrating medications (excluding IV) under direct supervision of a physician. Obtains lab specimen and fills out requisitions completely and accurately. In addition to the above, the Medical Assistant II functions more independently and coordinates the workflow of MAs when necessary. Obtains authorization for referral (normally in small clinics). Conducts front desk duties such as registration, check-in and scheduling of patients.
* Maintains hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collects laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol
* Assists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested
* Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies
* Assists in patient/equipment preparation
* Performs follow-up actions as directed
* Documents clinically relevant findings in the patient's record according to hospital protocols and clinical protocols
* Records readings in an accurate and timely manner
Job Requirements

High School Diploma/GED
Medical Assistant Cerification or Completion of a US Armed Forces medical services training program
Computer program utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients
Basic Life Support - CPR

Our MA's are integral to our clinic/hospital and are responsible for assisting Providers with medical treatment of patients within a patient-centered philosophy. The MA assists with daily functions of the Clinic. This role will work at the urgent care location.
Essential Job Duties
Take vital signs
Answer and triage phone calls from patients
Documentation in EHR, past medical history, social history, surgery history, immunizations, and update medications
Prepare patient for exam
Administer medication/injection, maintain patient's confidentiality
E-scribe prescriptions to pharmacy
Assist providers as needed
Maintenance of equipment and making recommendations for medical equipment as needed to Supervisor
Update ordering list with any needed supplies and medications
Oversee inventory of medical supplies and equipment
Assist in chart documentation for quality purposed to ensure that provider coding and documentation matching
Conduct In-House back office procedure lab tests/Nurse visits when appropriate (Sofia, Glucose, INR and UA dips.)
Conduct quality control checks of machines and kits as directed
Serve as liaison between Provider and other hospital departments as necessary
Verify lab orders/ requisitions
Clean and restock of patient rooms throughout the day
Open tickets for Information Assistance
