Position Summary:
Provide a range of clinical, administrative, and staff support to a full-range dental services operation. Assist in the performance of dental and radiography procedures; prepare and maintain dental equipment and supplies in accordance with established protocol, procedures, policies, and standards, and assist in the coordination of day-to-day patient administration, records management, and office support activities. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
Prepares operatory with appropriate instruments and material for the patients scheduled to be seen
Assist dentist during treatment by providing instruments, material retraction or suction; sterilizes instruments and disinfects operatory between patients
Schedules patients for dental appointments
Performs laboratory procedures such as mixing impression material for dentures and assists in the clinical procedures of prosthetic dentistry
Develops and mounts routine radiographs; assists in maintaining dental charts and records dental findings
Follows security regulations for keys, sharps and controlled medications; adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills
Maintain compliance with Universal Precautions and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, infection control techniques and regulations by: reviewing dental material safety data sheets, and statistics, labeling hazardous material, disposing of sharp and infectious wastes, and maintaining autoclave sterilization log, etc
Follow and maintain inventories of dental clinic supplies to maintain proper levels
PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Essential Functions:

Assist the front office staff in scheduling patients' follow up visits, as well as tracking the incoming and outgoing lab cases, to ensure quality and timely products.
When assigned by the Operations Leader, monitor the level of dental supplies and order using approved formulary.
Promote and market Sonrava supported practices services and retail products.
Complete checklists as assigned and participate in daily huddles to ensure that every single day flows smoothly.
Maintain patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance.
Follow the organization's safety policies and procedures through OSHA compliance and BBP (Blood-borne Pathogens) federal regulations.
Complete all Learning Management System requirements.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required
Current radiography certification required
Dental Assistant certification, as required by state, or ability to become certified
Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) preferred
Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Analgesia preferred
Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training

Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Provide exceptional customer service, with excellent chair-side manner, by making the patient the#1 priority.
Be present, engaged and ready to work at all assigned shift times.
Take direction from the doctor and/or hygienist(s), assist them with all dental procedures, and anticipate their needs.
Take, develop and mount accurate, high-quality radiographs.
Review patient charts prior to doctor arrival, log appropriate patient data and health history during the exam and treatment, as well as transcribe the doctor's notes.
Clean, sterilize and prepare the equipment and operatory, per the organization's procedures and guidelines, prior to a patient's appointment.
Perform efficient and accurate procedures to help maintain the schedule and patient flow.
Educate the patients and address their questions and/or concerns.
Demonstrate good teamwork to deliver an extraordinary experience for every patient.
Partner with the doctors, hygienists, Operations Leaders and support staff to maintain excellent patient service and integrity within the organization.
Assist the front office staff in scheduling patients' follow up visits, as well as tracking the incoming and outgoing lab cases, to ensure quality and timely products.
When assigned by the Operations Leader, monitor the level of dental supplies and order using approved formulary.
Promote and market Sonrava supported practices services and retail products.
Complete checklists as assigned and participate in daily huddles to ensure that every single day flows smoothly.
Maintain patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance.
Follow the organization's safety policies and procedures through OSHA compliance and BBP (Blood-borne Pathogens) federal regulations.
Complete all Learning Management System requirements.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required
Current radiography certification required
DANB certification
Dental Assistant certification, as required by state, or ability to become certified
Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) preferred
Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training
Skills and Abilities:
Experience in a professional environment with direct patient contact preferred
Excellent positive attitude and customer service skills
Professionalism and integrity in all aspects of the job, including image and both verbal and written communication skills
Possess exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills, including conflict resolution skills

A. Position Summary
Under general supervision, provides a range of clinical, administrative, and staff support to a full-range dental services operation. Assists in the performance of dental and radiography procedures; prepares and maintains dental equipment and supplies in accordance with established protocol, procedures, policies, and standards, and assists in the coordination of day-to-day patient administration, records management, and office support activities.
B. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides chair side assistance to dentists and/or dental hygienists in the performance of dental procedures, to include operative, preventive, periodontal, endodontic, prosthetic, and/or oral surgical procedures.
Prepares, sterilizes, organizes, and sets up dental equipment, ensures that all dental instruments are cleaned, dated, and processed according to established clinic guidelines and standards.
Monitors and maintains dental equipment, such as compressors, evacuator systems, radiographic developing equipment, sterilizers, and light curing units, in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines.
Exposes and processes dental radiographs in accordance with provider orders; assists in the monitoring and maintenance of radiation safety procedures and protocols.
Follows and maintains all relevant federal, state, and institutional regulations, guidelines, policies, and standards for the provision of dental clinical services.
Orders and maintains inventories of dental clinic supplies.
Interacts with and processes dental clinic patients; performs telephone triage, conducts patient interviews, and obtains prior approvals from third party payors.
Maintains dental laboratory slips and creates and maintains dental records in accordance with established protocol and procedures.
Prepares instruments for sterilization and storage in trays.
Educates patients based on a sound knowledge of prevention and control of oral diseases; uses various teaching aids to effectively present the information to patients.
Inventories and orders materials and supplies for the dental clinic.
Contacts patients by telephone for return visits.
Takes and pours up dental impressions under direction of a dentist.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
C. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School graduate or GED certificate required.
Graduation from an ADA recognized certificate program is preferred.
Bi-lingual English/Spanish is preferred.
Work experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified is strongly preferred.
D. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Active license from NM Board of Dental Healthcare with certification required in:
Dental Radiography
CPR Certification must be obtained within first 6 months of hire and maintained.

Physical Effort and Dexterity: Good dexterity to operate personal computer, and basic medical and laboratory equipment. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Machines, Tools, Equipment required to be operated: Capable of using medical equipment, office machines and personal computers for word processing, data entry and retrieval.
Visual Acuity, Hearing, and Speaking: Must be able to read computer monitor output and results of basic medical tests accurately. Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately for work and safety compliance.
Environment/Working Conditions: Work is mostly inside a clinic in a controlled environment. Normal clinic safety precautions and practices are required. Position may require travel throughout the Albuquerque metropolitan area. Work regularly scheduled Monday-Friday, although weekends may be required to meet deadlines.
