Maintain clean work area at all times; participate in daily cleaning duties, including vacuuming and emptying of waste receptacles, cleaning operatories and instruments

Proficient in the use of Electronic Dental Record (EDR), Electronic Health Record (EHR) and RPMS to assist with appointment schedules in the Dental Clinic. Performs various clerical tasks in support of daily operations such as filing, typing/scanning, copying, patient registration, making appointment reminder calls, patient check-in, patient check-out, and making follow-up appointments, etc.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area and office reception area.
Types clinical notes and other documentation on a daily basis or as deemed necessary.

Clinical Duties
Performs duties of dental assisting according to the Dental Assisting Permitted Functions and Certifications as assigned in chairside assisting areas such as: General, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Oral Surgery, and Prosthodontics.
Accurately documents diagnostic information and treatment provided for each patient.
Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of all clinic areas including minor equipment adjustments and cleanliness of clinic areas.
Responsible for following CIH Dental Policies for using best infection control practices that keep employees and patients safe and protected while in the dental clinic.
Responsible for understanding and practicing the dental clinic regulations around room set up and turnover.

Job Knowledge

Education/Experience

Interview patients to update demographic and insurance information. Incumbent prioritizes work according to the urgency of the situation and/or medical information received about the patient. Environment
Must be flexible in working hours. Work is performed in the clinic setting, which is responsible for treating patients with a wide variety of medical problems. Supervisory Controls

RESPONSIBILITIES-
1. Prepare the operatories for delivery of dental treatment.
2. Assist the dentist with all dental procedures (this includes but is not limited to taking alginate impressions, suctioning patients during procedures, handing instruments and supplies to the dentist, constructing, and cementing temporary crowns, packing gingival retraction cord, etc.).
3. Take dental and medical history and perform accurate dental charting.
4. Take and develop dental radiographs of diagnostic quality.
5. Pour and trim clinically acceptable models.
6. Disinfect and sterilize all instruments, equipment, and surfaces between patients.
7. Open and maintain patient files in good order.
8. Take and triage patient telephone calls.
9. Perform preventive maintenance procedures on equipment and instrumentation.
10. Maintain the dental supplies inventory.
11. Maintain a clean, orderly, and aseptic clinical environment.
12. Maintain log of ordered dental prosthetics.
13. Participate in quality management activities.
14. Occasionally, the supervisor may assign other appropriate duties and responsibilities.
15. Provide patients with instruction for oral care following dental treatments. Hourly rate depends on experience level and certification: On-the-Job Training (no prior experience) $18.50 to $19.00
