Registered Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. The primary role of the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is to assist the dentist in gaining the patient's commitment to the best possible treatment, with urgency. Key duties associated with assisting the dentist in starting treatment include: utilizing x-ray time to promote the good qualities of the dentist, learning the patient's expectations while educating them with intra-oral pictures, using effective and anticipatory chair-side skills, and effectively supporting the dentist's diagnosis after the examination when the patient asks questions. The RDA should abide by procedures needed for compliance with state and federal safety regulation, infection control, and permitted duties.
Responsibilities
The primary role of the Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is to assist the dentist as necessary to gain the patient's commitment for the best possible treatment with urgency
Actively participate in the Perfect Patient ExperienceÔ by striving to keep your patients focused on optimal treatment while attending to their individual needs and concerns
Maintain a clean, sterile, and cheerful environment where your patients feel comfortable; prepare patients for treatment, and assist the doctors - thereby enabling them to provide efficient, quality dental treatment
At the direction of the dentist, complete x-rays and intra-oral pictures of patients as appropriate
At the direction of the dentist, instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care.
Sterilize and disinfect instruments, equipment, and operatories in accordance with the American Dental Association guidelines
Maintain strict compliance with State, Federal, and other regulations, (e.g., OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, HR policies and practices)
Qualifications
Equivalent to high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and specified training courses as mandated by state for certification, licensure, or registration
Certifications/licenses/registrations as mandated by applicable state (e.g. coronal polish, radiograph exposure, ultrasonic scaling for orthodontic procedures, pit and fissure sealant application, etc)
Associate degree or one-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

Responsible for clean-up of service area used in facility.
Inspect and maintain the vehicle's exterior and interior appearance, as well as, perform basic support undertakings like routine oil changes, refueling the vehicle, change brake lights, etc.
Maintains dental supplies inventory by auditing stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies.
Manage resources by preparing supplies with minimum waste or need for duplication.
Ensure all dental equipment is working properly by completing preventive maintenance requirements and following manufacturer's instructions.
Assists dentist diagnosis by exposing and processing digital dental radiographs.
Assist with education of patients on proper oral hygiene techniques.
Able to multitask, be detail oriented and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
Strong knowledge of medical and dental terminology.
Ensure a positive experience for our patients.
Follows all OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
Communicate effectively with all patients, family members, providers, faculty and staff.
Provide timely responses to patient inquiries; document conversations in the EMR.
Requires travel up to 100% of the time.
Actively supports and complies with all components of the compliance program, including, but not limited to, completion of training and reporting of suspected violations of law and Company policy.
Maintains confidentiality of all information; abides with HIPAA and PHI guidelines at all times
Reacts positively to change and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
High School education or GED.
Medical / Dental Assistant experience preferred.
Must have own reliable transportation, good driving record and car insurance.
Must have completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.
Hepatitis B vaccination is preferred.
Must have state radiation license or certificate.
Must have good computer skills and medical terminology experience.
Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Must be able to follow directions and listen to needs of patients and doctors.
Physical Demands:
Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Requires standing, walking, pushing and stooping on a periodic basis. Frequent lifting requirements vary depending upon specialty division hired for. (Dental: 50 pounds or more.) Must be able to push patients in wheelchair. Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

Responsibilities
Must be able to work in a pediatric, child friendly environment
Review all hygiene patient charts including; reason and necessity of visit, medical history, and x-ray requirement
Verify patient information with parent or guardian, according to HIPAA privacy standards
Have coronal polishing certification - We are able to provide a sealant course!
Verify the patient has consent for treatment from parent or guardian
Advise parent or guardian what to expect in the visit and address any concerns
Charting all existing/missing teeth, existing restorations, and/or dental procedures
Obtaining all x-rays necessary in the best quality possible
Maintaining accurate clinical notes of each visit
Clean and sterilize all instruments following OSHA and company standards. This includes; scrubbing instruments, packing the instruments and processing them through the statim or autoclave sterilizer
Must maintain Dental Assisting License in good standing and complete the CE Credits required by state
