The Dental Assistant performs a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties, such as preparing the treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and assisting during procedures. He or she makes patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepares them for treatment, obtains their dental records, and instructs patients on postoperative and general oral health care. The Dental Assistant may prepare materials for impressions and restorations, patient charting, and take dental x-rays as directed by a dentist. In addition, he or she helps with office duties that support the clinical mission, including ordering of clinical supplies, scheduling follow up appointments for treatment, and keeping clinical supplies organized.
The ideal candidate is certified in Maryland and has two years of experience. Candidates must have a pleasant and courteous personality, strong computer skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with dental practice management software is a plus.
COMPENSATION
$22 - $30 / hour
RESPONSIBILITIES
Sterilizes dental instruments and equipment for each patient and organizes and lays out instruments for dentist's use
Helps with patient care, including handing instruments and other materials to the dentist during procedures, taking x-rays of patients' teeth, taking impressions of patients' teeth for casts, using suction and swabs to keep patients' mouths clear and dry during procedures, etc.
Helps manage patient records, including obtaining dental records, questioning patients about their medical history, and recording the information for the dentist's reference
Advises patients on dental care and helps make patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment
Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required
Performs other duties as assigned

Job Description
Responsibilities
Welcome customers in the dental office
Prepare customers for treatments or checkups ensuring their comfort
Select and set up instruments, equipment and material needed
Sterilize instruments according to regulations
Assist the dentist through 4-handed dentistry
Undertake lab tasks as instructed
Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
Keep the dental room clean and well-stocked
Schedule appointments
Maintain accurate patient records and assist with payment procedures
Qualifications
Skills
X-ray certification in Maryland
Proven experience as dental assistant
Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
Understanding of health & safety regulations
Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus
Good computer skills
Excellent communication and people skills
Attention to detail
Well-organized and reliable
High school diploma; graduating from dental assistant school is preferred
Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. EFDA)
Active x-ray certification in Maryland is required!

Fabricate, adjust, and fit temporary crowns as needed.

Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Chart existing and treatment plans in the dental management software (Dentrix)
Qualifications:
Possession of a valid x-ray certification.
At least 2 years of hands-on experience as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant.
Demonstrated skill in obtaining dental impressions.
Proficiency in the fabrication and adjustment of temporary crowns.
Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities:
Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures with a focus on implant surgeries and restorative dental care.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of dental instruments and ensure their proper use and maintenance.
Manage inventory control in the operatories, ensuring all necessary supplies are stocked and organized.
