GENERAL DUTIES
* Assist Dentists/Collect Patient Information:
* Assist dentists by holding instrument trays and handing them specific tools.
* Also performs few minor procedures independently such as rubber cup prophies/supra gingival polishing, pacing rubber dams, fitting crowns and bands, as per guidance by the Dental Practice Act.
* Collects patient data regarding tooth problems, known allergies, past medical history, and other information required by the dentist.
* Greets patients who come into the office and answers incoming phone calls to schedule appointments.
* Prepare Patients and Rooms:
* Prepares patient rooms by cleaning up after patients leave and preparing instrument trays. Also prepares patients by helping them get into position for their dental examinations. Monitors vital signs during dental treatment.
* Assists the dentist with patient care during dental cleanings, restorative treatment, orthodontic treatments and oral surgeries.
* Sterilize Tools/Perform X-Rays:
* Sterilizes all tools used by the dentist in-between patient exams and follows sanitation guidelines.
* Performs X-rays of patients' teeth, following all proper safety procedures and obtains images and impressions.
* Educate Patients/Post Client Information:
* Advises and educates patients on proper dental care, oral hygiene practices, postoperative instructions, and maintaining healthy-teeth diets.
* Records notes for patient files and transcribe notes from the dentist into the files.
* Protect Patient Privacy:
* Observes all HIPAA rules by protecting patient privacy.
* Order New Supplies:
* Maintains the supply inventory by ordering X-ray safety equipment, sterilization solutions, dental tools, and exam room supplies as necessary.
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
2 years of clinical experience in General Dentistry or 3 years of clinical experience in Orthodontics
Preferred: 2 years of clinical Pediatric Dentistry
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: Dental assistant certification from accredited program
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required: Basic Life Support Health Care Provider
Required: Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA)

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**
+ Prepare the office to receive patients prior to opening daily
+ Provide responsive, high-quality service to patients
+ Provide patient education regarding treatment options, denture styles, packages, aftercare instructions, and pricing
+ Provide patient information regarding office policies
+ Consistently record information on the treatment router and patient history forms as instructed by the treating dentist
+ Consistently select appropriate tray sizes for patients' impression materials, and assist dentist with patient impressions, upon direction from the treating dentist
+ Upon direction from the treating dentist, demonstrate ability to prepare wax bites
+ Upon direction and supervision of the treating dentist, and within legal guidelines of expanded duties, assist dentist with adjustments on dentures and denture insertions
+ Tally time sheets in an accurate and timely manner and give to FDA for dentist approval and signature
+ Assist treating dentist with surgery
+ Take and develop x-rays as needed (has certification, where certification is required)
+ Consistently sterilize instruments with minimal direction, including impression trays and hand piece burs and wipes down equipment after each patient
+ Escort each patient to the check out area, with appropriate paperwork
+ Maintain clean work area at all times; participate in daily cleaning duties, including vacuuming and emptying of waste receptacles, cleaning operatories and instruments
+ Inventory and re-order supplies as instructed
+ Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
+ Minimal travel may be required for training and/or continuing education purposes
+ Other duties as assigned
**Educational Requirements:**
+ Must possess an active DA and X-ray certification
+ HS Diploma
**GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:**
+ At least one year of hands-on experience assisting with dentures and/or implants
+ Experience in taking impressions for dentures preferred
+ Moderate physical activity
+ Ability to sit, stand, bend and stoop for periods of time
+ Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally

Summary: Assists the Doctor with dental functions as well as the preparation/clean up of treatment areas by performing the following duties. Obtains impressions, scanner knowledge, creates temporary crowns, implant knowledge, root canal knowledge, Eaglesoft knowledge, break down/set up rooms, write notes.
Essential Tasks include the following but are not limited to:
Prepares work areas to include stocking, setting up, breaking down and cleaning/sterilizing as needed, verifying lab cases are checked in and checked out for patients on the schedule, making sure proper tray is set up.
Seats patients and completes the scheduled treatment, as well as provides oral or written pre-operative and post-operative treatment instructions, updating the Practice Management Software with new findings and next recommended treatment.
Take necessary X-rays prescribed by the doctor following the Radiographic Imaging Policy (RIP).
Assists Doctor at chairside with four-handed dentistry, a variety of procedures and maintains Doctor's work schedule and patient flow between operatories, taking impressions per doctor's recommendation.
Maintains general dental office equipment including but not limited to the suction system, X-ray processor and all sterilization equipment.
Follows all company policies and procedures paying special attention to patient care and safety.
Non-Essential Tasks include the following but are not limited to:

GENERAL DUTIES
Assist Dentists/Collect Patient Information:
* Assist dentists by holding instrument trays and handing them specific tools.
* May perform minor procedures independently such as rubber cup prophies/supra gingival polishing, placing rubber dams, fitting crowns and bands, as per guidance by the Dental Practice Act.
* Collects patient data regarding tooth problems, known allergies, past medical history, and other information required by the dentist.
* Greets patients who come into the office and answers incoming phone calls to schedule appointments.
Prepare Patients and Rooms:
* Prepares patient rooms by cleaning up after patients leave and preparing instrument trays. Also prepares patients by helping them get into position for their dental examinations. Monitors vital signs during dental treatment.
* Assists the dentist with patient care during dental cleanings, restorative treatment, orthodontic treatments and oral surgeries.
Sterilize Tools/Perform X-Rays:
* Sterilizes all tools used by the dentist between patient exams and follows sanitation guidelines.
* Performs X-rays of patients' teeth, following all proper safety procedures and obtains images and impressions.
Educate Patients/Post Client Information:
* Advises and educates patients on proper dental care, oral hygiene practices, postoperative instructions, and maintaining healthy-teeth diets.
* Records notes for patient files and transcribes notes from the dentist into the files.
Protect Patient Privacy:
* Observes all HIPAA rules by protecting patient privacy.
Order New Supplies:
* Maintains the supply inventory by ordering X-ray safety equipment, sterilization solutions, dental tools, and exam room supplies as necessary.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: Dental assistant certification from accredited program
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Required: 3 months externship in a General or Pediatric dental clinic
Preferred: 1-year minimum clinical experience in a General or Pediatric dentistry. 2 years minimum in Orthodontics
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred: Graduated from an accredited dental assistant program.
BLS Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association;
