Position Summary: The Chairside Dental Assistant (Dental Assistant II) is responsible for patient preparation, chair side support to dental providers, dental hygienist, sterilization, and clinic flow. Your contribution to the team includes: * Greet and prepare patients for exams by identifying patient's chief complaint and taking vitals. * Access and update patient information in Electronic Dental Record (EDR) and Electronic Practice Management (EPM) computer system as required. * Provide chair side assistance to dental providers with exams and procedures including, but not limited to, prophylaxis, root canals, restorative, crowns and bridges. * Perform digital imaging, prophylaxis, sealants, provide telephone refilling of medications. Record medication refills in patient record. * Provide instructions to patients on the use of medications as directed by the provider. * Provide instruction in home care and give general health information as directed by a provider. * Sterilize used equipment, instruments and operatories following OSHA, WISHA guidelines. Prepare and stock operatories at the start and throughout each day. * Act as liaison between receptionists and providers ensuring timely and orderly patient flow throughout the clinic. * Maintain confidentiality of all patients medical/dental records, financial, and personal information. Must have's you'll need to be successful: * Certificate from accredited Dental Assistant program or comparable experience of three (3) months of Dental Assistant Training. * Maintain current registration/licensure with the State of Washington. * Possesses basic operating knowledge of computers. Beginning level of Word, Excel and Outlook required. * Ability and willingness to work Saturdays. If you know about the following its a plus: * Proficiency with EHR systems (Epic). This job requires traveling between our offices supporing our Periodontal Team (Tacoma, Federal Way, Bellevue, Maple Valley, Issaquah, Northgate, Lynnwood, Olympia & Gig Harbor) Schedule (days/hours) M-F 6-3 Responsibilities * Prepare patients for surgery, ensure comfort, and provide clear pre-op and post-op instructions. * Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures, including extractions, implants, bone grafts, and IV sedation cases . * Perform pre-op vital signs, patient assessments, airway evaluation, and sedation readiness checks. * Monitor patients undergoing IV sedation or general anesthesia under the surgeon's supervision (vitals, pulse oximetry, ETCO₂, blood pressure, EKG). * Document anesthesia records accurately and in real time and maintain accurate clinical charting and assist with treatment coordination. * Prepare and sterilize surgical rooms, instruments, and equipment according to OSHA and infection-control standards. * Take digital X-rays, panoramic images, CBCT scans, and intraoral photos as needed. * Manage surgical instruments, trays, and inventory, ensuring accurate setup and turnover. * Support emergency response protocols and assist with complication management when needed.
