Position Summary:
The Chairside Dental Assistant (Dental Assistant II) is responsible for patient preparation, chair side support to dental providers, dental hygienist, sterilization, and clinic flow.
Your contribution to the team includes:
* Greet and prepare patients for exams by identifying patient's chief complaint and taking vitals.
* Access and update patient information in Electronic Dental Record (EDR) and Electronic Practice Management (EPM) computer system as required.
* Provide chair side assistance to dental providers with exams and procedures including, but not limited to, prophylaxis, root canals, restorative, crowns and bridges.
* Perform digital imaging, prophylaxis, sealants, provide telephone refilling of medications. Record medication refills in patient record.
* Provide instructions to patients on the use of medications as directed by the provider.
* Provide instruction in home care and give general health information as directed by a provider.
* Sterilize used equipment, instruments and operatories following OSHA, WISHA guidelines. Prepare and stock operatories at the start and throughout each day.
* Act as liaison between receptionists and providers ensuring timely and orderly patient flow throughout the clinic.
* Maintain confidentiality of all patients medical/dental records, financial, and personal information.
Must have's you'll need to be successful:
* Certificate from accredited Dental Assistant program or comparable experience of three (3) months of Dental Assistant Training.
* Maintain current registration/licensure with the State of Washington.
* Possesses basic operating knowledge of computers. Beginning level of Word, Excel and Outlook required.

Job Specific Functions/Performance: General
1. Greets patients, interpreters and visitors, in person and by phone, in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner, to respond to inquiries, take messages, and provide accurate information regarding schedules and services.

6. Performs competently and independently all dental treatment procedures in use at CHC and allowable by dental assistants under Washington State Law.
7. Performs radiographic surveys as prescribed by Dentists for diagnostic purposes (expose, develop, mount and label films including with portable equipment.
8. Assists the Dentists chairside in providing dental care for patients utilizing efficient four handed dentistry techniques of instrument exchange, oral evacuation, tissue retraction, and materials preparation.
9. Assists the Dentists in determining dental problems and offering oral health education.
10. Opens and closes operatories and keeps operatories fully stocked, organized, and safe. Reprocess operatories and instruments following each patient encounter with promptness and efficiency. Prepares appropriate armamentarium of instruments and materials for each treatment procedure.
11. Maintains current knowledge of dental materials, dental procedures, oral hygiene procedures, and sterilization/disinfection procedures in use at CHC.
12. Follows established protocols for routine cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment.
13. Adheres to organizational infection control practices and written plan.
14. Adheres to attendance standards in order to perform the job functions for daily operations and/or continuity of patient care.

1. Transport and maintain portable dental equipment and order and transport program supplies to schools and service locations.
2. Work with portable equipment and in non-traditional locations, such as schools.

4. Provides coverage for breaks, lunches and PTO, as needed.
