What You'll Do:
Update patient medical records, conduct X-ray procedures, including panoramic images and intraoral photographs
Record periodontal charting and prepare instruments and equipment for Provider exams
Mix exam materials with awareness of infection control, perform preventative care like fluoride treatments
Monitor nitrous oxide analgesia under Provider supervision (Only in Washington)
Educate patients on oral hygiene in clinic and school-based programs
Assist in patient infection control program, sterilize instruments/equipment
May assist in Orthodontics, including: obtaining patient records, bite registrations, patient models, fabricating orthodontic retainers, and placing/removing ligature ties
May perform Lead duties by maintaining the daily flow of the department and acting as a liaison between line staff and the direct supervisor. Manage breaks, lunches, sick calls, and overtime. Provide insights to leaders regarding the skill level and performance of the employees. Responsible for providing training to new employees and existing staff when needed.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
BLS certification within 90 days
Surgical Technologist Registration (if assisting a Dentist in the operating room)
Dental Assistant Registration or EFDA certification
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred at level 10
Basic knowledge of medical/dental terminology, dental anatomy, dental materials/instruments, infection control techniques, and oral health care instruction
Ability to perform four-handed dental assisting, including instrument transfer, oral evacuation, cement mixing, and spatulation
Strong level of manual dexterity and coordination. Ability to effectively interact professionally with various patients of all ages and employees
Basic proficiency in an Electronic Dental Record (EDR), Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

Patient Care:
Ensures that operatory and equipment are prepared prior to seating patients.

Patient Care:

Responsibilities
Performs venipuncture, arterial puncture, capillary puncture, and other fluid collection on patients. Performs waive test sample collection, processing and resulting. Ensures specimens are appropriately labeled and identified for lab processing.
Responsible for instrumentation, supplies, ordering, and other quality assignments.
Promotes a positive work culture and upholds clinic policies and procedures, including the WE CARE Standards of Behavior.
Must uphold confidentiality at all times in regards to CBHA activities, reports, financials, patient health information and other proprietary information specific to CBHA.
When employee holds a Medical Assistant Certified and is assigned: Responsible for preparing the day's flow of patients through the clinic.
When employee holds a Medical Assistant Certified and is assigned: Responsible for patient flow during the work day, ensuring that Provider and patient needs are met
When employee holds a Medical Assistant Certified and is assigned: Communicates with patients, as directed by Provider and Licensed Nurse.
When employee holds a Medical Assistant Certified and is assigned: Responsible for managing provider computer desktop flow on a daily basis.

Qualifications
Professional and Technical Knowledge:
Possesses a basic level of written and verbal communication skills, computer skills, and mathematical skills typically acquired through completion of a high school program.
Possesses familiarity with the processes and operations performed during the work day, facilitating patient flow, while accurately maintaining appropriate health information in the patient's electronic medical record.
Ability to demonstrate basic medical terminology/anatomy.
License and Certification:
Ability to possess a current Medical Assistant Phlebotomy license with the State of Washington. May have a Medical Assistant Certified license instead or in addition.
Ability to possess a current BLS for Healthcare Providers card.
Communications Skills:
Possesses the ability to successfully form, foster, and improve relationships with members of a culture different from one's own.
Possesses ability to present oneself professionally.

As a Dental Assistant, you will have the opportunity to:
Maintain medical records and vital signs
Conduct complete X-ray procedures and set up for exams
Record periodontal data, perform periodontal care, and administer nitrous oxide

Qualifications:

Dental Assistant Registration or EFDA certification.
