Able to stand, walk, sit, and bend for extended periods; work effectively with multicultural patients and interpreters.
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive chairside assistance for all routine general dentistry procedures.
Accurately record treatments in Dentrix (charting and clinical notes).
Clean, package, and sterilize instruments; ensure proper storage.
Prepare patients and operatories; set up instruments for planned procedures.
Operate dental x-ray equipment to obtain digital intra/extra-oral radiographs.
Provide prophy/polish, topical fluoride, and place pit & fissure sealants as prescribed.
Perform basic lab procedures (pour/trim models, fabricate occlusal guards).
Take and record vital signs (e.g., blood pressure).
Maintain supplies/equipment; inventory and requisition as needed.
Deliver patient education on prevention and post-treatment care.
Keep the clinic clean and operable; perform routine equipment maintenance.
Adhere to infection control, radiation safety, OSHA/IHS protocols; utilize required PPE.
Work safely in environments with potential exposure to aerosols, nitrous oxide residue, curing light emissions, etc.

Job Description
The primary role of the Dental Assistant is to support the success of the clinicians through effective delivery of the Perfect Patient Experience (PPE), thus creating a Patient for Life (PFL). Dental assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. Dental assistants prepare patients for oral examination and assist other dental professionals in providing treatment to the teeth, mouth, and gums. Dental assistants must work effectively with co-workers including Specialty dental assistants, patients, and the front office by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner. A successful dental assistant will execute active listening to objectively consider ideas and suggestions from others, keep commitments; keep others informed of work progress, and address problems constructively to identify practical business solutions.
Specialty Dental Assistants If dental assistant is assigned within specialty areas including: Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics or Pediatric, they will primarily be supporting clinicians within that specialty and may be required to have additional training.
Responsibilities
Perform functions in accordance with the applicable state's Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties.
Actively participate in the PPE by striving to keep your patients focused on optimal treatment while attending to their individual needs and concerns.
Escort patients to/from the front desk and introduce them to other team members as appropriate.
Communicate with the front and back office teams to ensure the Orthodontists schedule runs smoothly and efficiently.
Maintain a clean, sterile, and cheerful environment.
Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment; clean each operatory in accordance with the state applicable infection control guidelines.
Prepare patients for treatment and assist the dentist- thereby enabling them to provide efficient, quality dental treatment.
At the direction of the clinician, complete radiographs and intra-oral pictures of patients in an efficient and timely manner.
Prepare tray setups for dental procedures and maintain adequate supply levels in each operatory, replenishing as needed to provide efficient patient care.
Keep the patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices.
Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care as directed by the clinician.
Record patient charting and all the clinician's notes in the digital patient chart as directed by the clinician.
Support patient care by presenting treatment record, consents and health history to clinician prior to patient treatment.
Ensure equipment is maintained according to manufacturer's guidelines.
Work closely with Lead Dental Assistant to ensure adequate clinical supplies are on hand.
Utilize technology by learning how to operate and give explanation/demonstration of how to operate to others.
Participate in daily morning huddles, monthly team meetings and any other meetings as required.

Qualifications
Equivalent to high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and specified training courses as mandated by state for certification, licensure, or registration.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: As mandated by applicable state.
Specialty Dental Assistants must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and automobile insurance. Driver's license must be verified by completing a background check and motor vehicle record check at the time of hire.
Specialty Dental Assistants are required to timely travel to multiple offices per day, in some cases several times per day, and must have reliable means of transportation to travel to assigned offices.
In lieu of a valid driver's license and automobile insurance, Specialty Dental Assistant must have reliable means of alternate transportation which would allow for required, timely travel to multiple offices per day, in some cases several times per day.

Instruction An adjunct instructor is appointed on a term contract for instructional, temporary and part-time assignments. They are not assigned to other responsibilities such as professional service or college service. They have no right to reappointment. Persons appointed at this rank will vary in minimal academic qualifications but generally shall have a relevant doctoral or equivalent terminal degree to teach at the upper division and graduate level, and a master's degree for lower division courses. All degrees shall be from accredited institutions or from internationally reputable and recognized institutions. Exceptions to these requirements may be made by the Provost upon presentation of evidence of a record of experience or other credentials that indicate academic degree equivalence. Adjunct Faculty members can only serve as Faculty Senators if they teach during the current semester or have taught within the last fiscal year.
Duties & Responsibilities
As part of their contracted duties and specified by their division Dean or Department Chair, Adjunct Faculty may be expected to perform the following:
Provide the most effective instruction possible in one's discipline to insure that the educational needs of students are met and that students achieve specified learning objectives.
Teach assigned courses, whether on campus or off campus, day or evening, following the official syllabi and using approved textbooks and other learning materials.
Meet all classes regularly and on time, as scheduled, and for their full duration.
Establish learning objectives and outcomes for assigned courses.
Evaluate student performance (attainment of learning objectives) and assign grades.
Serve as academic advisor to students as assigned.
Maintain all office hours and make arrangements for appointments with students at other times.
Participate in the department's/division's review of courses and programs.
Upgrade the educational program by evaluating course content, student needs, and instructional methods; make recommendations for improvement.
Assist in the preparation of course syllabi; engage in curriculum development (revising and updating existing courses and programs, creating new courses and programs)
Evaluate support materials available to students in the library and make recommendations for improving collections in one's field.
Keep accurate records of student attendance, grades, etc.
Make arrangements with the department chair or assistant dean for covering classes when scheduling an absence.
Meet all deadlines in submitting grades or other required information on students.
Attend all faculty meetings, other convocations as appropriate, and graduation exercises.
Keep up to date with all license/ certification requirements by maintaining continuing education hours as required by the dental board
Maintain and assist the director in maintaining all accreditation standards, and policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
STANDARD 3-5: Dental assisting faculty must have background in and current knowledge of dental assisting, the specific subjects they are teaching and educational theory and methodology consistent with teaching assignment, e.g., curriculum development, educational psychology, test construction, measurement and evaluation.
STANDARD 3-6: Faculty providing didactic instruction must have earned at least a baccalaureate degree.
STANDARD 3-7: Laboratory, preclinical and clinical faculty must hold any current dental assisting credential required by the state in addition to a Dental Assisting National Board “Certified Dental Assistant” credential*. Faculty members teaching additional or expanded dental assisting functions should be credentialed appropriately in those functions as required by the state. Faculty who are state-licensed dentists are not required to obtain additional certification. Licensed dental hygiene faculty who teach dental radiography, coronal polishing, and the placement of pit and fissure sealants would be eligible to teach these functions to dental assisting students without obtaining additional certification. Honorary emeritus status issued by the Dental Assisting National Board is not recognized by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

We are looking for a dedicated Dental Assistant with a can-do attitude, a proactive nature, a strong sense of ownership and integrity, interest in building their skills, and a desire to grow long-term with us at this PDS Health supported practice.
In this position, you'll be part of a team striving to provide the Perfect Patient Experience™, while assisting the dentist as they provide quality care using proven modern technology.
The ideal candidate will have:
Necessary industry certifications and education
Possess outstanding time management, communication, and enjoys working in a team environment.
Demonstrate knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, technical skills and equipment
