* Follows clinic procedure/protocol for the organization and management of the electronic medical record (i.e. test results, retrieval, filing, creation, repair, charging of electronic medical record).
* Acts to facilitate interdisciplinary communication. Utilizes other members of the health care team in assessing the patient and analyzes patient data. Assesses learning needs of the patient and significant others. Gives accurate and complete information to patient and family.
* Evaluates patient and family understanding of treatment plan and/or instruc tions.
* Assists with a variety of procedures, exams and/or operation of diagnostic equipment as assigned (i.e. EKG, spirometry, tympanometry, etc.).
* Maintains appropriate aseptic technique for preparation, pro cedures and medications administered.
* Accurately documents all patient interactions in electronic medical record.
* Reports results and pertinent information to patients and health care team members.
* Functions according to limitations or scope of license or certification.
* Performs basic medical assistant functions (vitals, rooming, assist with procedures, immunizations, medication injections etc), under direction and supervision of provider.
* Maintains professional appearance of patient exam and procedure rooms.
* Maintains supplies in assigned area
*MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:*
* Work includes cross coverage in other clinic areas as team needs.
* Responsible for following equipment maintenance protocol, identifying problems, and coordinating appropriate repairs.
* Participates in Performance Improvement projects.
*MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED**:*
* Successful completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
* Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification must be obtained within first year of employment and maintained thereafter.
* Clinic/physician office experience preferred.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
* Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population serve within three (3) months of hire.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrate ability to consistently meet work schedule demands in the clinic.
Maintains awareness of safety in carrying out duties and responsibilities. Adheres to universal precautions and infection control policies and procedures.
Maintains patient confidentiality and use discretion in patient interactions.
Promote a positive, professional image of the clinic. Promote positive interpersonal relationships with patients and co-workers.
Responsible for initial nursing assessment of all patients prior to being seen by the provider. Assist providers as needed. Provide correct health information either by phone or via mail.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for rooming patients, to include but not limited to:
Vitals
Initial assessment
Provide necessary educational material and follow-up as needed.
Assessment of incoming results and notify patient of results as instructed by provider, to include but not limited to:
Labs / bloodwork
Pap tests
Ultrasounds
Other outpatient testing
Triage phone calls
Return calls to patients to answer with appropriate information to include communication with provider if necessary
Medication refills via phone and EMR
Schedule surgery and other tests
Call surgery facility, give them required information
Document pertinent information in surgery book / patient chart
Obtain insurance approval as necessary
Assist with in-office procedures
Provide assistance to lab with phlebotomy, injections and urinalysis
Provide support to patients and family members as necessary
Participate in educational programs to include OB/GYN related topics.
Maintain current
License/Certification
CPR certification
Mandatory Reporter
Assist with maintaining appropriate supply inventory
Sterilize instruments, maintain and clean autoclave
Any other duties as requested by physicians and/or supervisory staff.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to adapt to changes in duties and office policies
Phlebotomy and Gynecological experience preferred
General computer knowledge with EMR system, Mod Med
EDUCATION
Current CMA or CNA license/certification or appropriate experience and training as determined by physicians or supervisor.
