Proactively drive hygiene production by maximizing chair time, recommending preventive care, and supporting same-day treatment opportunities

Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a DentalHygienist for the Murray Developmental Center located in Centralia, Illinois to perform technical and advisory services in dental hygiene including prophylaxis. Performs educational and organizational work in promoting oral hygiene. Assists in preparing patients for dental treatment including lifting patients from wheelchairs into the dental chair.
Essential Functions
Gives complete oral prophylactic services to individuals.
Assists in preparing patients for dental treatment including lifting patients from wheelchairs into the dental chair.
Performs educational and organizational work in promoting oral hygiene.
Keeps records of activities performed within area of responsibility including annual review summaries and represents dental services in annual reviews as part of the interdisciplinary team.
Performs infection control procedures to prevent cross contamination.
Inputs Continuous Quality Indicator data on computer on a daily basis.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school, supplemented by completion of two (2) years of college with course work in dental hygiene.
Requires Illinois certificate as registered dentalhygienist.
Conditions of Employment
Requires the ability to bend, stoop, reach, lift and carry heavy loads.

Overview
We are looking for an outgoing General Dental Registered DentalHygienist with strong interpersonal skills to join our fast-paced dental office.
Experience is preferred and a current dentalhygienist license is required. Our modern, fully digital practices provide restorative care, fixed and removable prosthodontics, endodontics, extractions, and implant restorations.
Schedule: Full-time or Part-time hours
Duties/Responsibilities
Patient screening procedures, such as assessment of oral health conditions, reviewing health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure and pulse.
Removing calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth.
Applying preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides).
Teaching patients' appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling).
Counseling patients about good nutrition and its impact on oral health.
Making impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth used by dentists to evaluate patient treatment needs).
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
Possess a strong commitment to patient care, patient health and quality work.
Professional working proficiency in Spanish preferred
Education and Experience
Associate or advanced degree in Dental Hygiene.
State certification/license as required to work as a DentalHygienist.
One year or more of relevant experience in the dental industry preferred but open to no experience for the right candidate.
