Overview

Performs coronal polishing and sealant placement for patients. Monitors and terminates nitrous oxide levels of patients and detects changes in patient status during and after medication administration to ensure patient safety.
Schedules appointments, answers telephone, and organizes daily schedule.
Reviews medical history; records patient dental conditions and treatments; and maintains chart, records and reports. Maintains appropriate inventory for dental service delivery.
Exposes and prepares x-rays for review. Meets infection control and safety guidelines.
Compiles information from patients, parents, guardians and family members in regards to patients health and dental needs. Compiles information from community resources concerning school transport programs and school-based referrals.
Communicates with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. Guides dental students in learning the proper use of various dental equipment as necessary.

We are currently seeking a per diem Dental Assistant to join our team at the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex located in Pikeville, Tennessee.
The Dental Assistant works under the direct supervision, assisting the Dentist and/or DentalHygienist in chairside dentistry in a correctional setting. Additional responsibilities include preparing and sterilizing dental instruments, preparing and maintaining the dental operatory, operating radiographic equipment, and additional administrative tasks as needed.
Pay is $23 per hour.
Qualifications
High school diploma or its recognized equivalent
Completion of a technical school program in dental assisting or six months of experience as a dental assistant required
Tennessee DA license or ability to obtain license
Certification as an expanded duty dental assistant preferred; if the candidate does not possess a current certificate, one must be obtained in the first year of employment
Certification and/or previous experience performing dental x-rays preferred
Must maintain current tuberculosis screening documentation and active CPR certification
Ability to obtain a security clearance, to include drug screen and criminal background check

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Dental Assistant to provide comprehensive chairside and clinical support to the Dental Officer at the Federal Correctional Institution in Manchester, KY. The role requires a dedicated professional capable of maintaining a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment while delivering essential dental services to the adult-in-custody population.
Key Responsibilities
Chairside Assistance: Prepare patients and treatment rooms; assist the Dental Officer during restorative, oral surgery, periodontics, prosthetics, and examination procedures.
Clinical Duties: Perform dental prophylaxis, charting, apply temporary fillings and packs, make primary impressions, and fabricate/repair prosthetics under supervision.
Radiography: Take digital and standard radiographs (periapical, occlusal, panographic, etc.), ensuring proper patient positioning, radiation safety, and digital image processing.
Infection Control: Clean, sharpen, and sterilize instruments; maintain strict infection control and disposal of contaminated biological waste.
Administration: Manage patient scheduling, maintain adequate supply stock, and document all care accurately in electronic and paper medical records.
Minimum Qualifications
Successful completion of specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant school.
Training must include dental radiology and radiation safety.
CPR certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing Dental Assistant services.
Must be able to pass a federal background check and comply with all institution security protocols.
