Duties and Responsibilities Review and update patient health history regularly to ensure accurate and current information. Assist Dr. Mellas during oral and IV sedation procedures as well as various surgical interventions. Responsible for the setup and breakdown of operation rooms before and after procedures. Ensure all surgical instruments are properly sterilized and organized according to standard safety protocols. Perform dental tasks such as taking IO scans or impressions, and pouring up models as required. Explain and reiterate treatment plans and options to patients, ensuring they understand their ongoing care process. Handle radiological tasks, including taking x-rays and 3-D scans of patients' craniofacial features. Manage inventory controls, ensuring all necessary surgical and administrative supplies are stocked and accounted for. Coordinate with the front office to schedule continuing care, treatment, and postoperative appointments efficiently. Maintain patient confidentiality and contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Requirements Previous experience as a dental assistant in a surgical setting preferred. Strong knowledge of Dentrix software and Dexis imaging systems. Must possess certifications in CPR and dental x-ray procedures; certification in IV placement a plus. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to discuss treatment plans and health concepts clearly. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency. Capability and willingness to take initiative and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
