As a Lead Dental Hygienist at Tend, you'll do more than deliver top-tier preventive care - you'll also set the standard for hygiene excellence in your studio. You'll model best practices for patient care, mentor and coach fellow hygienists and hygiene assistants, and collaborate with dentists and operations leaders to drive both clinical and business success. You'll still treat a well-booked schedule of patients in our Team (Assisted) Hygiene model, while also guiding protocols, training, and continuous improvement for the hygiene team. What You'll Do
Deliver comprehensive preventive and periodontal care - including prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, scaling and root planing (SRP), gingivitis scaling, oral cancer screenings, Itero scans, sealants, Zoom whitening, Perio Protect, Curodont, fluoride treatments, and patient education - all in alignment with evidence-based clinical guidelines
Provide leadership and mentorship to hygienists and hygiene assistants, setting expectations, coaching performance, and ensuring adherence to Tend's clinical standards
Collaborate with dental assistants to optimize studio-wide hygiene flow, sterilization protocols, and room turnover efficiency
Partner with dentists on exams and treatment planning, reinforcing comprehensive care and seamless handoffs for patients
Proactively drive hygiene production across the team by identifying opportunities, supporting same-day treatment acceptance, and monitoring key metrics
Lead regular hygiene team meetings, provide feedback, and champion CE opportunities and professional development for the hygiene team
Partner closely with studio managers and doctors to ensure the hygiene department is meeting patient care, quality, and business objectives

What You Have
Degree from an accredited dental hygiene program
Current, active hygiene license in the state you're applying for
Current Anesthesia/Nitrous license in applicable state
Current CPR/BLS certification
Prior leadership, mentorship, or training experience in a hygiene setting preferred
Comfort with digital charting and x-rays, intraoral cameras, and technology-driven care

Open to a full-time schedule (32-40 hours/week including AM/PM and Saturday shifts)

Hygienists at Tend are eligible for a monthly performance bonus based on clinical and operational key performance indicators (KPIs). Bonus pay is distributed monthly but reflected in the listed range as an hourly equivalent. Provides oral prophylaxis and scaling of teeth with cavitron and hand instruments
Evaluate patients oral hygiene and dental health and make preventive dental recommendations.

What You'll Do:
Prepare patient records and charts ahead of surgical visits
Take and process X-rays and 3D scans using modern equipment (CBCT, iTero)
Sterilize and organize surgical instruments according to OSHA standards

The Surgical Dental Assistant will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our Oral Surgeons throughout various surgical procedures.
The successful candidate will be able to:
Preparing the Treatment Room:-Ensure the treatment room is clean, organized, and equipped with the necessary instruments and supplies-Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments according to infection control guidelines-Set up equipment such as suction devices, dental chairs, X-ray machines, and surgical lights
Assisting with Oral Surgery Procedures:-Prepare patients for Oral Surgery, explaining the procedure and addressing any concerns they may have-Assist Oral Surgeons during surgical procedures, anticipating their needs and providing the necessary instruments and materials-Maintain a sterile environment during surgery, following strict infection control protocols-Monitor patients' vital signs and comfort level during surgery, ensuring their well-being at all times-Handle and dispose of surgical waste and hazardous materials in compliance with safety regulations Patient Support and Education:-Provide post-operative care instructions to patients, including oral hygiene practices, medication administration, and dietary restrictions- Answer patients' questions and concerns, offering reassurance and empathy throughout their treatment process-Educate patients about oral health, prevention methods, and the importance of regular dental visits-Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting treatment plans, procedures, and progress
Administrative Duties:-Schedule patient appointments and coordinate with other dental staff to ensure smooth patient flow-Manage patient records, update medical histories, and handle billing and insurance documentation-Assist with inventory management, ordering dental supplies, and maintaining equipment-Perform any and all other duties as assigned What You'll Bring:
-High school diploma or equivalent required-Valid X-ray license is required-Previous experience as a dental assistant, particularly in Oral Surgery, is highly desirable-Discharge experience is highly preferred-Knowledge of oral surgery procedures, instruments, and materials-Familiarity with infection control protocols and safety measures-Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach-Strong organizational skills and attention to detail-Proficiency in dental software and computer literacy Perks of the Job:
