The tasks and responsibilities of a Hygienist include but are but not limited to: Provide superior patient care and service. Exhibit outstanding service and hospitality. Record and review patient medical histories. Examine gums, wing probes to locate periodontally recessed gingiva, periodontal pockets and signs of gum disease. Palpate and visually examine gums for signs of disease. Palpate lymph nodes in and around the neck to detect swelling or tenderness that could indicate presence of oral cancer. Educate our patients on the importance of preventing, diagnosing, and treating periodontal disease. Discuss the links between periodontal conditions and systemic illness.
